Una eat your meat with boundaries🤣
Below are images showing deposition of monosodium urate crystals at the joins. This results in a disease known as Gout arthritis. It normally affects the joins of toes, especially the big toe and the fingers. The most severe form of it leads deposition of urate crystals called tophi on the soft tissues of your body such as skin tendon and ligament. when these crystals are deposited in your kidneys, it causes kidney stones.
The main source of this urate crystals can either be from over production of uric acid in your body or under excretion of it.
People who drink alcohol a lot, eat a lot of red meat, sea foods such as lobster are at the highest risk of being affected because such foods have a high purine content. when metabolized, the end product of purines is xanthine which is converted to uric acid so that it can be excreted through urine in the kidneys. In the kidneys, alcohol then compete for excretion with these harmful products hence increasing their content in the blood. The increased amount of uric acid in your blood is then deposited in form of monosodium urate at your joints, on the skin as tophi and kidneys as kidney stones which is life threatening.
those under chemotherapy, whereby most of your cells have to die eg cancer cells, release a lot of DNA and RNA which are also metabolized to purine and xanthin respectively. This as well leads to an increased amount of uric acid that is deposited as monosodium urate in your body causing either kidney stone or Gout arthritis.
To prevent and treat symptoms such as pain, redness and swelling of Gout arthritis, lifestyle remodeling by reducing on the amount of alcohol intake and red meat or foods that have high purine content in them is vital.
mediations that serve the same purpose can range from taking NSAID's for acute arthritis with exception of aspirin and tolmetin because they increase uric acid level and paracetamol because it is not an anti-inflammatory agent. Colchicine and corticosteroids are also important. For chronic cases of Gout arthritis, allopurinol, and febuxostat are used to treat the case.
NB: These medications have severe side effects🤣; therefore, you need to consult your doctor for the best medications for your condition after putting all your past medical history into consideration
