UN Women, in collaboration with UNAOC and UNFPA is now accepting applications from young women peacebuilders for the pilot initiative “Strengthening Young Women Peacebuilders’ Capacity in Complex Crises”.

The programme seeks to support young women leading civil society organizations in fragile and/or conflict-affected countries. The objective is to provide them with capacity building sessions to strengthen their fundraising skills, and to create a space for peer exchange, networking, sharing of best practices, and lessons learned among young women peacebuilders.

Twenty-five young women will be selected to take part in a 4-day training which will be held in Tbilisi, Georgia towards the end of 2022.

The Call is open for young women between 18 and 30 years old, who are founding or key member of a legally registered civil society organization working on peacebuilding, human rights, women’s rights, youth rights or related; and are from one of the following eligible states and territories: Afghanistan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Honduras, Iraq, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Moldova, Mozambique, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Sudan, Sri Lanka, State of Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, and Yemen.

The Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP), led by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security, is pleased to announce the 2022 CCMP Reporting Fellowship Program for journalists interested in covering the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP27). Hosted this year by the government of Egypt, the conference is scheduled to take place in the city of Sharm el-Sheikh from 7-18 November 2022.

Eligibility

Be a professional journalist from or representing an established media house and reporting from a low- or middle-income country.
Have a good command of the English language.
Have previous experience reporting on climate change issues and clearly indicate the kinds of stories you might pursue while attending the conference.
Be available and willing to travel to Egypt to attend COP27 in person, arriving on November 5 and departing no earlier than November 19, 2022.
Commit to participate in all Fellowship activities.

Benefits

As currently envisioned (and subject to change), CCMP Fellows would travel to Sharm el-Sheikh to attend the full period of the UN climate negotiations, with arrival planned for November 5, 2022 and departure on November 19 or 20, 2022.
The CCMP will cover non-refundable economy-class airfare, accommodation, meals, travel insurance (including emergency medical COVID-19 coverage), and transportation costs to participate in the Fellowship.
Organizers will also reimburse for meals and other transport expenses acquired in transit, including COVID testing; facilitate the press accreditation process; and provide logistical support relating to the trip. Please note that the process of obtaining any necessary visas is the Fellow's individual responsibility, though the CCMP will reimburse visa costs.

This eighth edition of Pitch AgriHack invites African businesses to pitch their approach to driving technological innovation in the agriculture sector. The open competition portion of Pitch AgriHack 2022 will support companies that are driving innovation in agriculture across three categories with prizes totaling US$45,000:

Benefits

A fourth invite-only category, known as the AYuTe Africa Challenge, sponsored by Heifer International, will award up to US$1.5 million in grants to scalable ventures that are already generating measurable impact for Africa’s smallholder farmers.
Six winners will be selected from the open-application categories and two winners from the invite-only AYuTe Africa Challenge category. The winners will be announced at the AGRF Summit which takes place September 5-9 in Kigali.
Top contestants will receive a one-day boot camp in preparation for their final pitches, with winners receiving continued support as they develop and grow their enterprises.
Business profiles of the finalists will also be published in a Deal Book for circulation at the AGRF and online, while individual profiles will be made public on the genafrica's platform and reviewed for relevance to their investor community.

The Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) and the Affirmative Finance Action for Women in Africa (AFAWA) initiative of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) have joined forces to drive increased access to finance and markets for women-owned and women-led small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) across Southern, East and West Africa.

The programme “Solutions Catalysing Increased Access to Capital for the Success of Women Entrepreneurs” aims to accelerate efforts to address gender inequality and drive inclusive economic transformation.

510 growth-oriented women-owned and women-led small and medium enterprises (WSMEs) will be supported for scale, access to markets and investment readiness across 8 African countries: Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia or Zimbabwe.

AWIEF Growth Accelerator (in partnership with Nedbank) – to enhance investment readiness and increase access to finance.

Young people from around the world are gathering in Rotterdam to shape the Global Goal on Adaptation. The Global Center on Adaptation and its Youth Advisory Panel are convening the first Global Youth Adaptation Summit to bring together young leaders, decision-makers and experts for the most important youth gathering on adaptation ahead of COP27.

Participants of the two-day program will join capacity-building workshops in the field of leadership and adaptation, follow keynote speeches by experts in the field of climate action, and deliberate in working groups on a written outcome of the first Global Youth Adaptation Summit, to be presented to the Friends of GCA High-Level Dialogue and at the Pre-COP27. In addition, the Summit is a platform to exchange experiences in implementing adaptation solutions with young people from around the world. The Summit will be concluded with a shared meal by young leaders and high-level dignitaries in the field of international diplomacy.

Eligibility

The applicant must be between the age of 18-35 at the time of application.
If selected, the applicant must be available to fully attend the program
Must be available to take part in 1 virtual preparatory call in August 2022
Participants joining in person must be able to communicate in English

Funding

For participants living outside of the Netherlands and within Europe, there are several scholarships available to cover accommodation and travel to the Summit.

The MENA Digital Summer School is a hybrid seminar on digital transformation targeting aspiring innovators from the MENA region in the field of digital transformation. The scholarship programme “Leadership for Africa” (LfA) aims to support the academic qualification and advancement of young refugees and national scholars from Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger and Senegal at higher education institutions in Germany.

Requirements

The programme targets two groups:
1) Highly qualified refugees who hold refugee status and fulfil the necessary qualifications for Master’s studies in Germany.
Applicants must fulfil the following conditions:

Holding refugee status in their host countries, being granted before April 18th, 2022
Country of asylum must be either Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Niger or Senegal
Completed Bachelor’s degree at the time of application
