Allegations Emerge Against Vice President Benjamin Bol Mel Over Land Grabbing Incident Involving Family of Late SPLA General
Juba, South Sudan – June 26, 2025
A heartbreaking incident has come to light involving the family of the late General James Tut Thuoch, a senior officer of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), whose service to the nation was marked by dedication and valor. In a shocking turn of events, the family—particularly the widowed wife—has allegedly been forcefully evicted from their home in Juba under the orders of Vice President Benjamin Bol Mel.
According to eyewitnesses and family members, a four-bedroom house built by the late General himself was destroyed by a bulldozer accompanied by heavily armed military personnel. The family’s home, located near the National Revenue Authority, was reportedly flattened without due notice, rendering the occupants homeless.
“This is not just a house; this was his legacy. Our father served this country faithfully. He sacrificed everything. And now, we are treated like criminals in our own home,” a grieving relative of the late General said, visibly shaken.
Sources claim that the operation was orchestrated under direct orders from Vice President Benjamin Bol Mel, who has been previously accused of multiple land grabbing incidents targeting the vulnerable and those without influential political connections. This latest episode, involving a widowed woman and her children, has sparked outrage among the community and across social media platforms.
A neighbor, who witnessed the demolition, said: “It was brutal. Soldiers surrounded the compound and gave the family only minutes to collect what they could. Then, without hesitation, the bulldozer went to work. They were left with nothing.”
This is not the first time Vice President Bol Mel’s name has been linked to controversial property seizures. Critics have accused him of abusing his power to claim valuable land and property from civilians—particularly widows
