SPLA-IO Has Become Divided Into Multiple Factions While Dr. Riek Machar Remains in Prison

According to reports and ongoing developments, the SPLA-IO has become increasingly divided into several different factions and groups. These include:

2. SPLA-IO under Dhiling Keak
3. SPLA-IO under Paar Kuol
4. Kit-Gwang faction under Gen. Gatwech Dual
5. Faction associated with Mabor Dhol and Johnson Olony
6. SPLA-IO under Duer Tut
7. SPLA-IO under Chuol Geach
8. CSSM under Biel Torkech
9. Other opposition factions that have emerged from the SPLA-IO

Some opposition groups are reportedly operating from remote areas, including bush locations, while others have reportedly surrendered or aligned themselves with the government of President Salva Kiir.
