Honored to share that I’ve been selected as a recipient of the 2026 IAmAdoptee Therapeutic and Wellness Subsidy.

This support will fund my training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) through the IFS Institute, in partnership with Black Therapists Rock—furthering my commitment to culturally grounded, liberatory healing practices within Black and African communities.

Adoption is often framed as a story of belonging, yet for many it begins with rupture. Separation from first families can leave lasting attachment wounds shaped by loss, silence, and the pressure to assimilate.

IFS offers a compassionate framework for working with the parts of ourselves that carry adoption-related trauma—without pathologizing them. It creates space to rebuild internal trust when early bonds were disrupted. Healing, for me and those I serve, is not about fixing what’s “broken,” but honoring what has always made sense in the context of loss.

I’m deeply grateful for this support and the opportunity to continue this work.
