Today, especially in Ethiopia, many in our generation have lost interest in education. This disillusionment is likely driven by the rise of anti-intellectualism, the economic hardships faced even by highly educated individuals, inadequate government salaries, the prevalence of shortcuts to accumulate wealth, and the ever-increasing cost of education.
I, too, once deeply passionate about learning, now feel overwhelmed. The burden of excessive workload combined with unreasonably low pay has taken its toll. But every time I see people like Dr. Gudata H. Sado, I feel recharged. My heart is warmed, and the fire within me is reignited.
To my fellow Oromo, Ethiopians, and all human beings: education is still the key to success. As individuals, one might accumulate wealth without formal education, but for a nation to develop, for meaningful change to happen, and for humanity to truly thrive, education is not just important, it is essential.
Thank you, Dr. Gudata, for being our inspiration.
Thank you, Aman, for your work.
