On February 22nd, a formal and meaningful meeting took place between 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐛𝐚 of the Afar region of Ethiopia and Said Bori , President of the American Afar Diaspora.
Over the past four years, the Afar region, like the rest of Ethiopia, has grappled with instability from various fronts, particularly in the south and northwest. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐥 A𝐫𝐛𝐚's exceptional leadership has been evident throughout these challenging times, guiding his people with unwavering resolve toward triumph despite adversities. 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐟𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐩𝐢𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐚𝐫.
The 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚 has consistently supported their people during difficult times. Discussions during the meeting focused on strengthening bonds, promoting cultural exchange, and advancing developmental initiatives in the Afar region.
This meeting provided a crucial platform for discussing mutual interests and cooperation between the diaspora community and their homeland. Together, they exemplified resilience, solidarity, and determination, emerging victorious in adversity. President Bori presented 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐥 A𝐫𝐛𝐚 with a prestigious 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐀𝐟𝐚𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚 for ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑚𝑎𝑟𝑘𝑎𝑏𝑙𝑒 𝑙𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑒𝑟𝑠ℎ𝑖𝑝 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑑𝑒𝑑𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑑𝑢𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑔 ℎ𝑎𝑟𝑠ℎ 𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒.
𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐥 A𝐫𝐛𝐚 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘩𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴. 𝐇𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚 to actively participate in shaping the country's future, especially in the Afar region of Ethiopia.
