Ethio Telecom, EPSS Partner to Digitise Ethiopiaâs Medicine Supply Chain

Ethiopiaâs pharmaceutical supply system is set for a digital overhaul after Ethio telecom and the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Supply Service (EPSS) unveiled plans to roll out an AI-driven supply chain platform designed to improve the availability, security, and delivery of medicines nationwide.
EPSS General Director Abdulkader Gelgelo said the project will bring GPS-enabled fleet management and improved warehouse operations, aiming to position Ethiopia as a regional hub. Health Minister Mekdes Daba described the initiative as âmore than a projectâit is a national transformation in healthcare delivery.â
The platform will also enable faster decision-making and reduce manual workloads through automation, according to Yohannes Getahun, Ethio telecomâs Enterprise Solutions Chief Officer. He added that the collaboration is expected to enhance service quality and efficiency from warehouses to their final destinations.
The initiative is part of Ethio telecomâs three-year âNext Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028â strategy, which aims to deliver sector-specific digital solutions across healthcare, logistics, and finance. Officials said the partnership represents a step toward building a more resilient, technology-driven national health system.
