A heartwarming example of the remarkable achievements possible with limited resources and local materials when an entire community comes together.

Meet Galata Asfaw from Ethiopia 🇪🇹

“I’m working on an organic permaculture farming project in the Shawa Community. The goal of this project is to create a place where people can come together and learn sustainable farming and permaculture skills. Through this project, individuals and families gain experience and can share these skills with others to help them live more self-sufficiently and sustainably.

We want our youth especially to spread knowledge about organic farming and permaculture, helping others thrive. We are building a community that offers a healthier, eco-friendly lifestyle. We also encourage the use of these skills in the local community and with our neighbors. Our vision is to create a network of similar communities across the country and beyond, which will serve as learning centers for a sustainable future.

The project is fun, family-friendly, and focused on teamwork, respecting each other, and helping the whole community. We aim to be fair, efficient, and productive while maintaining high standards. As a community organization in Ethiopia, we focus on using local resources to improve the lives of households.

Our work focuses on reducing poverty and illiteracy. We provide disadvantaged youth, orphans, and school dropouts with permaculture and organic farming skills. They learn simple farming methods that can improve their economic situation.

The project is located in the Shawa Community Permaculture Project Village, in Shawa east, Oromia region of Ethiopia.

**Mission:** To end poverty and illiteracy, and to create innovative farming technologies that help communities thrive.”

Addis Ababa is a city rich in diversity, with people from different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs coming together to create a vibrant community. Embrace this diversity and let it be a source of strength and inspiration. Together, we can achieve great things by celebrating our differences and working towards common goals.

Empowerment through Education:
Education is the key to unlocking your full potential and creating a better future for yourself and your community. Take advantage of the educational opportunities available in Addis Ababa and never stop learning. Whether through formal education or self-study, education empowers you to make informed decisions, pursue your passions, and contribute meaningfully to society.

Environmental Stewardship:
As residents of Addis Ababa, we have a responsibility to protect and preserve our environment for future generations. Take small but meaningful actions like reducing waste, conserving water and energy, and supporting sustainable practices. By being good stewards of the environment, we can ensure a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable city for all.

Embrace Resilience:
Life is full of challenges and obstacles, but it is how we respond to them that defines our character. Be resilient in the face of adversity, and never lose hope or faith in your abilities. Remember that setbacks are not failures but opportunities to learn, grow, and come back stronger than before.

Celebrate Achievements:
Take the time to celebrate your achievements, no matter how big or small. Acknowledge your hard work and dedication, and be proud of how far you have come. By celebrating your successes, you not only boost your confidence and motivation but also inspire others to pursue their dreams.

Remember, you have the power to shape your own future and make a positive impact on your community. Keep these motivational tips in mind as you navigate through life in Addis Ababa, and never lose sight of your potential to achieve greatness. Together

Accountability and Responsibility as a Life Companion

Accountability and responsibility are not just values we embrace in certain moments—they are lifelong companions that shape who we are. When you choose to walk with them, they become part of your very being. They guide your decisions, refine your actions, and leave footprints that others can follow.

Responsibility teaches you to own your choices, while accountability ensures you remain true to your words and commitments. Together, they build trust, respect, and integrity—qualities that outlive titles, wealth, or positions of power.

Your legacy is not only for you—it flows into the generations after you. When accountability and responsibility define your life, their reflection can be seen in your children long after you are gone. They inherit not just your name, but the respect, admiration, and blessings attached to who you were. The doors you open by living with integrity often remain open for your children, giving them opportunities anchored in the honor of your legacy.

This inheritance of values can even be traced back to your roots—your lineage and traditions—reminding the world that greatness is not built overnight but through generations of responsible and accountable living.

When responsibility becomes your habit and accountability your standard, they merge into your identity. They form the foundation of leadership, the measure of maturity, and the mark of true humanity. Those who walk with accountability and responsibility do not just live a life, they create a legacy that outlives them.

When All is Right, All is Wrong

Life often teaches us that what looks perfect on the outside can hide deep struggles within. The phrase “When all is right, all is wrong” reminds us that appearances are not always reality. Sometimes, what seems smooth and flawless is only a mask covering injustice, silence, or pain.

In Francis Imbuga’s Betrayal in the City, the government insists that everything is right in Kafira. Yet beneath the surface lies oppression, corruption, and silence forced upon the people. It is a reminder that when leaders refuse to admit mistakes, the real wrong has already taken root.

In John Lara’s The Samaritan, the admired public figure is celebrated for his position, but behind the curtain of respectability is selfishness and moral emptiness. It shows us that being praised as “right” by society means little if the heart is full of wrong.

In “A Silent Song” from A Silent Song and Other Stories, the blind boy seems quiet and obedient, something society sees as good. Yet this silence hides pain and despair — teaching us that what looks peaceful can sometimes be suffering unspoken.

Even in Margaret Ogola’s The River and the Source, the strength of Akoko’s family line comes with hidden struggles of loss and pain. It reminds us that resilience is not the absence of wrong, but the courage to face wrongs and rise above them.

Therefore, “When all is right, all is wrong” calls us to look deeper. Do not be fooled by appearances of perfection. Real growth, justice, and strength come when we confront the wrongs beneath the surface and transform them into lessons. It is through imperfection and struggle that true progress is born.

Don’t give your phone more attention than your spouse. Real love needs eye contact, pillow talk, and gentle touch - not endless scrolling every evening.

When all else fails, don’t forget to say a prayer.

No matter the challenges, prayer has a way of bringing peace, strength, and clarity.

As we step into this new week, may you find hope in your heart, courage in your steps, and joy in the little things.

Wishing you all a blessed and fruitful week ahead!
