Someone once said to me, “You’re too feminist.”
I replied, “Why, shouldn’t we all be?”
To me, feminism is beautiful, and we should all embrace it. To be a feminist means to include all women, without bias or exception.
At the same time, I believe its vision should extend beyond that—feminism should be for everyone.
It shouldn’t be a gatekeeper, shutting out women who don’t fit a certain mold.
It shouldn’t push the unrealistic belief that women must “do it all.” True feminism is about the inclusion of all genders. It honors the strength of men instead of seeing them as the “enemy”—a dated view that belongs to the past.
It’s not just for the privileged or the marginalized; it’s a movement for humanity.
A true feminist understands that we are an ecosystem, part of a larger whole. We can’t function with only women, or only men, or only any one gender.
As Leah Jacobson, puts it, the next era of is “whole.” We function together as men and women. We understand our identities not in isolation, but in relation to one another.
Being a is about understanding your own unique function and power—from skin to soul—and recognizing how it connects to the rest of the world.
The term “feminist” shouldn’t carry a negative weight. The idea behind it is too beautiful and too universal to be confined to a specific group. It is for everyone.
