The Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources extends its congratulations to Mineral Resources Department (MRD) Technical Officer II, Mr. Penijamini Mataitoga, on his successful admission to the London Protocol Master’s Engineering Programme, through the Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) in the Republic of Korea.

Mr. Mataitoga is set to commence the two-year Master’s programme from September 2026, providing an important opportunity to further strengthen his technical knowledge, professional expertise and understanding of marine and ocean science-related fields.

His admission represents a significant professional milestone and reflects the value of continued investment in the capacity development and technical advancement of Fiji’s public sector workforce. The opportunity will also provide exposure to international research, technical practices and specialised knowledge that can contribute to the continued development of expertise within Fiji’s mineral resources sector.

As a Technical Officer II within MRD, Mr. Mataitoga contributes to the Department’s technical work and the broader mandate of the Ministry in the responsible management and development of Fiji’s mineral and natural resources.

The Ministry recognises that opportunities such as these not only support individual professional development but also contribute to strengthening institutional capacity and building a skilled technical workforce capable of supporting Fiji’s long-term development priorities.

The Ministry wishes Mr. Mataitoga every success as he embarks on this new academic chapter in the Republic of Korea.
