Sigatoka, Fiji โ Tournament organisers are pleased to announce that FIJI BLUE, the reigning champions of the McDonaldโs Coral Coast Fiji 7s, will return in January 2026 to defend their title and chase an historic three-peat at Lawaqa Park.
FIJI BLUE has dominated the past two editions of the tournament, showcasing discipline, creativity, and the signature Fijian flair that captivates fans both locally and internationally. With Head Coach Osea Kolinisau at the helm and a talented squad preparing for the challenge, the champions are poised for another unforgettable campaign.
The Menโs Division expands to 24 teams in 2026 and of these 24 teams, 14 will be from overseas as a mix of national 7s programs & invitational teams travelling to Fiji to compete alongside the very best local 7s teams in Fiji. All this combined with a first-place prize of FJ$50,000, the stage is set for the most competitive and high-stakes Coral Coast Fiji 7s to date.
Tournament Founding Chairman Jay Whyte said the return of the champions adds immense excitement.
โFIJI BLUE are the benchmark, and having the 2024 tournament ambassador and Fiji 7s head coach Osea lead his side in pursuit of a three-peat lifts the entire tournament. With the incredible depth of both local and overseas teams, FIJI BLUE will need to be at their very best to defend their titleโitโs going to be a world-class competition.โ
Head Coach Osea Kolinisau said the team is motivated and ready for the challenge.
โWe know the target is on our backs, but thatโs what makes this tournament special. With so many strong teams coming from overseas, the level will be very high. The boys are focused, excited, and ready to represent Fiji with pride as we chase the three-peat.โ
Whyte added that the expanded field reflects the tournamentโs growing international standing.
โTwenty-four teams, fourteen from overseas, and FJ$50k on the line speaks volumes about the global appeal of the Coral Coast Fiji 7s. Teams want to be here, and fans can expect the best sevens action anywhere in the world.โ
With anticipation building, fans can look forward to three days of electrifying rugby, international rivalries, and Fijian entertainment as FIJI BLUE attempts to cement their legacy in January 2026.
