Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Reshmi Singh, originally from the province of Macuata in the Northern Division, will be leaving our shores to join two police serving in the United Nations Interim Security Forces in Abyei (UNISFA).
Leaving her home and family behind is not easy, but the call to serve remains strong, she said.
ASP Reshmi comes with a wealth of knowledge and experiences as this will be her thirty-second years of service & her fifth deployment to UN peacekeeping operations.
Granted with a field promotion to Superintendent of Police, she will be the contingent Commander for the FPF UNISFA component.
Her appointment as the UNISFA Contingent Commander is a milestone achievent for Fiji women in policing as the two FPF mission areas UNISFA and UNMISS will be headed by women.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aseri Nakibo currently holds the post of Fiji Police Contigent Commander in UNMISS (South Sudan), and ASP Singh's deployment sees her taking up the leadership role in Abyei, marking another milestone for inclusivity in the deployment of women officers to mission areas holding senior positions.
ASP Singh has served as an IPO in Kosovo (2002), three training mission as a FPU Proficiency Testing & Training Team in East Timor (2008), FPU Mobile Training Team member in Liberia (2009), Joint Integrated Training Team member in South Sudan (2016-2017), UN Police STM Trainer & an AMS Trainer for the United Nation.
Sending her off yesterday (Thursday 12th June 2025) was the Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu who wished her well and blessings for her tour of duty.
ASP Singh's deployment brings to a total of 25 police officers deployed to two mission areas, UNMISS and UNISFA. Of the 25, 11 are women officers.
ASP Singh departs our ahores on the 15th of June 2025.
