Hold the Oak Line - 7th Can. Inf. Brigade - Normandy 1944

Hold the Oak Line - 7th Can. Inf. Brigade - Normandy 1944 Book dedicated to 7th Can. Inf. Bde, from D-DAY at Juno Beach to the struggles Vs. the Hitlerjugend

HOLD THE OAK LINE

After a long time of research. Here it is.
This small pack belonged to Rifleman Ernest J. Mathewson H-1508.
He was transferred to the Royal Winnipeg Rifles in June 1944 after D-Day and the battle of Putot-en-Bessin but before Carpiquet Airfield (Operation Windsor - 4th July 1944)
Wounded in Caen with ´C’ Company on July 12th 1944 he went back to the battalion late August before the fighting for Calais and Fort Nieulay.
Rfn Mathewson is in the centre of the photo, kneeling.
