Today we celebrate Mother's day with our loved ones. We shared the sacred space with them or we remembered the cherished memories of those we lost.

Let us take a moment to remember to all the refugee mothers, struggling to keep their children safe. The mothers who stay hungry to feed their children. The mothers who walk miles, fuelled by hope for a new home for their children. The strong, powerful mothers who have lost so much but still remain humble.

We salute you all. 🙏

Eight months ago, volunteers from NowHumanity and Project Soul Fam decided to get up and do something. Amrit Singh and Anita Wing Lee travelled to Lesvos in Greece to help shine a light on the refugee crisis by live broadcasting everything to the world. It was one of the most powerful and emotional journeys they had experienced.

Following on from the eye opening journey, we decided to self publish a photography book called, The Soul Of Humanity. The book will available soon and will include high quality pages of powerful photographs taken in Lesvos and stories from refugees and volunteers.

Silent and in shock, a child rescued after a reported airstrike becomes the face of Aleppo.
This innocent, confused and hurt little boy captures the absolute horror that continues to unfold each day in Syria.

A young child, later identified by media citing medical workers as five-year-old Omran Daqneesh, is passed between the arms of his rescuers from a building in Aleppo. He’s caked in dust. The left side of his face is smeared with blood.

He doesn’t make a sound...

As the world 'celebrates' World Refugee Day, let's take a moment and think about what this really means.

No doubt, your timeline today has been full of tweets/posts from individuals talking about how much we should help support refugees or the opposite. All of a sudden it's becomes topical because the hashtag is trending. Does this mean that everything anyone has done up until today is pointless? or the help volunteers will give tomorrow will be worthless?

The answer is an obvious no! The idea that we remember something on a day because someone has told us or due to a government sanctioned holiday is ludicrous. We should be ready support those in need, help anyone with kindness and humility in whatever way we can, whenever we can and not when someone tells us.

For the second time, Team NowHumanity travelled to Calais and Dunkirk over the weekend to live broadcast, volunteer and hand deliver hundreds of colouring books, pens, puzzles and much needed sanitary goods to refugee schools in both camps.

This year we have travelled to Lesvos, Athens, Calais, Dunkirk and Berlin to help with the refugee crisis, live broadcast the truth and realities on the ground. We didn't wait for a particular day or sanctioned holiday, we helped because the humanity in us yearned to serve. There are many amazing groups who are volunteering their time to serve, we commend all of you.

The questions to ask yourself today is;
- What will I do tomorrow?
- How can I serve humanity today?

• Coming back to Calais refugee camp, 3 months later was a very surreal feeling. There were obvious signs of change but the sense of dwindling hope was still there.

In March, I witness alot of the South part of the camp being burnt down to only ash and destroyed memories. 3 months later and nature has absorbed the anguish, sorrows and pain; and replaced them with hope, life and optimism. •

NEW BLOG POST: How a group of students 4000 miles away are helping refugees

Over 4000 miles away from the Calais jungle, in the rural town of Ahoskie, North Carolina is the Roanoke-Cowan college. They chose NowHumanity as their end of the year outreach project and we were honoured!

Due to the amazing support from A.L.E.C, NowHumanity received one hundred bags filled with items we take for granted for the refugee children in France. We feel blessed to be able to work with an amazing group of young people who have social good at their core. It's refreshing to see that through the power of live streaming, we've touched people's hearts from over four thousands miles away; it's truly awe inspiring.

"This collection is for the children who are in refugee camps in Europe. NowHumanity is helping to give children a place to escape, a time to use their imagination and a respect to grow."

Team NowHumanity are going to Calais and Dunkirk on the 18 June 2016 for two days and will be hand delivering these bags while documenting the journey, live streaming via Periscope, writing blog posts and of course, volunteering.

Quibbling over the number of refugees allowed into a country shows a failure to feel what it’s like to be in their shoes. We need to focus on understanding why people are fleeing their country and making dangerous journeys to Europe in the first place.
