😤🚛 Morning surprise… not the good kind!
Someone decided to “go shopping” last night and cut open the tautliner.
They took just one box and left it on the ground — probably realized there was nothing valuable inside. 🙄

Still, they caused massive damage to the curtain and locks.
Nothing stolen, but the company now gets a big bill… great job, genius thieves! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Today I want to highlight the issue of harsh penalties in Italy: ⚖
👉 on-the-spot seizure of driving licences
👉 administrative impoundment of vehicles — towed to secured yards
👉 hefty towing and storage fees 💸

First topic: speed. 🕒
This isn’t about “too many speed checks,” but about tachograph readouts. During inspections, Italian authorities issue fines for short spikes above Italian limits, even when those entries were recorded while the vehicle was in the UK 🇬🇧, where HGV limits are higher. The result? Very steep fines, often running into thousands of euros 💶.

Second topic: exporting goods from Italy outside the EU. 📦🌍
There are numerous cases of carriers being sanctioned despite completing all formalities — contrary to EU regulations on the free movement and export of goods. These encounters typically end with the driver’s licence being seized 🪪 and the vehicle with cargo impounded 🚚🔒 until a court hearing. Even if you win in court ⚖, the carrier still faces massive costs and financial losses.

Hey! 🚚🇦🇹 The increasingly frequent, short-notice truck bans in Austria (weekends/holidays, metered “block” releases on the Brenner, local restrictions in Tyrol) are hitting us hard. Routes through Tyrol, Salzburg, or Carinthia can grind to a halt overnight — and we’re left to deal with it.
What this means in practice:
• chaotic planning and detours of hundreds of kilometers,
• higher fuel and labor/time costs,
• pressure on schedules and safety,
• more emissions from longer detours,
• risk of supply-chain disruptions.
We need predictability: clear schedules announced well in advance, real transit corridors, and sensible exemptions for critical cargo.
