The former place where I lived, there’s a woman that sells frozen food after my estate. I always patronize her because she uses machine to cut her proteins. Other vendors use cutlasssss and kn1ves but she uses machine which leaves your protein neat and not scattered in food.
I’ve had network issues and she’d let me owe her until network is stable and I pay her
I’ve had cases where I’ve traveled and either my daughter or the housekeeper buys on credit until I pay.
I can count at most 5 experiences of buying on credit and paying back almost immediately.
She wasn’t like this tho. Something happened.
One time I came to buy frozen food, I asked her; hope you’re okay cos you look stressed and where is your girl? I noticed I’ve not been seeing her. She didn’t answer me and I minded my business. I waited my turn and noticed she was attending to people that came after me. I raised my voice and asked why she was doing such? She apologized and pleaded that I should be patient as she wants to clear them off.
Me? I am very patient. At the end, she started crying. She cried her eyes out and I allowed her. When she was done, I asked, what happened? She said no one has ever asked her how are you neither did anyone notice the workload on her and she didn’t ignore me. She didn’t just want to cry in presence of customers. So she sold to them for the crowd to reduce in order to talk well with me. I asked if I could hug her and she accepted. I knew she needed that hug
Her sales girl ran away with her 11M. The girl uses her account to take money from customers and she was doing backyard business with her next shop neighbor and her boyfriend. The neighbor never told her that her sales girl was stealing and she trusted her so much cos she is a deeper lifer. I asked; where is the girl? She said she doesn’t know oh. She ran away.
Right there I made calls and I spent one week following up on the calls I made and finally the girl was picked up at a place called Afro in lagos. She was arrested and we followed the law. She managed to recover 6M tho.
Fast forward to when I bought frozen food and Gtbank chose to frustrate me that day, this woman asked me to go and send the money later which I did. I hope you now understand why she gave me grace and trust me I never crossed boundaries.
Later I started using her for school jobs. Events in school we purchase at least 9 cartons of chicken from her.
I moved houses last year and despite the distance I still manage to buy from her cos in my present location, no one uses machine.
One time I went to buy frozen food to make small peppersoup cos I love how the machine cuts it in bits. It was raining heavily, my phone was dead and I had just my Opay card with me that didn’t have sufficient funds. I explained my predicament to her and she said she can’t sell oh. That i should find way and get the complete money. Worst was how she was shouting and I felt embarrassed. I kuku drove home with my remaining shame and swore NEVER to patronize her.
We were to hold our interhouse sports and I went to pick up our trophies and medals from the spray guy whose shop isn’t far from hers. She sighted me and ran to me, greeted and asked why she hasn’t seen me as it’s been long. I went petty and replied, we are having our interhouse sports and I got 15 cartons of chicken and small turkey with fish. I found somewhere better where I am being respected. She tried pretending and I told her my mind, you see sometimes, it’s bad to help people. I wish I never helped you recover that money. I wish I had told you to find help somewhere else. And no, I am not being entitled but you were rude!
She said her husband warned her never to sell on credit that was why. And I chuckled and asked her, what if my own husband also said I shouldn’t use my connect to help you recover your 6m? If my phone wasn’t dead I’d have transferred your money! You shouted at me in the midst of your friends abi customers. She was busy begging and claiming that she regrets her actions and blah blah blah.
She was talking when I drove off and left her there to be talking to herself. I matched same energy.
I am not saying business shouldn’t have rules, but c’mon! There are some people you bend for! Call me entitled, I agree but I will never treat someone this way especially when she knows my school and even has contact of my school cleaners.
I just wanted to vent and I have finished venting.
