She had been serving in a prominent position at the Ministry of Culture and Social Affairs in Juba. However, less than a week after assuming her office, she received a distressing letter following a meeting with the presidential envoy for special programs. The letter contained a dismissal notice that left her shocked and devastated.

Struggling to maintain her composure, Sabrina expressed that she deserved a full explanation for being abruptly removed from her position.

South Sudan Government Initiates Arrests Over Alleged Misuse of Public Funds

The Government of South Sudan, led by President Salva Kiir Mayardit, has begun arresting individuals suspected of misusing government funds.

The move comes amid recent changes in financial assistance from the United States, which has previously raised concerns about governance reforms and financial transparency in the country.

Officials state that the arrests are part of broader anti-corruption measures aimed at promoting accountability and safeguarding public resources. Analysts note that while the timing coincides with shifts in international support, no official statement has confirmed a direct connection between the funding adjustments and the current enforcement actions.

Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have pledged to ensure due process in all proceedings.

What Kuol Manyang said about Riek Machar — claiming that he did nothing in the SPLM movement — is completely false. Dr. Riek Machar played a significant role in the struggle, and he was one of the key leaders who strongly advocated for the right to self-determination for the people of South Sudan.

It is well known that Dr. John Garang’s vision was for a “New Sudan,” meaning a united Sudan based on equality and justice, not necessarily immediate independence for South Sudan. In contrast, Dr. Riek Machar consistently pushed for self-determination, including the option of full independence for South Sudan.

We all know the history of the movement, and it is unfair to go public spreading misinformation, especially when such statements may be influenced by tribal or political bias. The liberation struggle was complex, and many leaders contributed in different ways.

Today, many South Sudanese are disappointed with the current system and the direction the country is taking. However, disagreements about the present should not lead to rewriting or distorting the history of the liberation movement.

The historical record clearly shows the roles played by different leaders, and it is important to present that history accurately and fairly.

PUBLIC CONCERN 🚨

Yesterday evening, 21st February 2026 at around 5:00 PM, soldiers of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) reportedly went to Pankor Village in Ayod County and killed more than 48 innocent women and children.

This horrific and senseless act of violence against civilians is heartbreaking and unacceptable. The lives of women and children must never be targeted under any circumstances.

We strongly condemn this brutal killing. Those responsible must be held accountable, and justice must be served for the innocent lives lost.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and the entire community during this painful time. May the Lord grant eternal peace to the souls of the victims and comfort to those who mourn.

Justice for the innocent. ⚖️😭
