I love this “f**king handmade in East Iceland” Special OP-6 from (aka Vinny Wood). Vinny sent this one up to Flóki for a few weeks and we ended up using it across two back-to-back sessions. His attention to detail, the craftsmanship, the depth of knowledge behind every choice, he nailed it.
I leaned into this replication of the original RCA OP-6 all over the place: bass, drums, acoustic, vocals... Any time I needed that driven, harmonically rich saturation, it delivered and then some. Beyond the sound, it’s just a joy to interact with, one of those pieces where turning the k***s feels as good as hearing what happens when you do.
Flóki has a lot of outboard, each piece chosen with intention. The goal is always the same: gear that disappears in the best way possible and becomes part of the creative current. The Special OP-6 did exactly that. What a joy.
We’ll definitely be adding one permanently to the racks.
