November 1988
Fresh from live continental dates earlier in the year, ITN returned to France for a short tour supporting Christian Death. Starting at Elysee-Montmartre, Paris, the band then headed west to Rennes and the newly opened UBU venue.
1988 was a catalyst period for ITN, who had just released Koda, their follow-up album to Twins and Stormhorse, and were well underway with tracks for their forthcoming landmark album L’esprit.
This audience recording captures rarely heard live renditions of tracks from Stormhorse (Subito- Regal - Miracle Of The Rose I, Hit and Stormhorse), Twins (The Outsider and Twins), alongside even rarer performances of Libertaire and Joacquin.
It’s interesting to note that L’esprit, introduced as the ’new one’, was most likely the first outing of elements of the track that would become a core ITN live track.
ITN’s live sound arsenal at the time consisted of their trademark orchestral bass drums, tympani, marching snare and basler drum, bass guitar, Yamaha MT44-D, and a brace of Roland S10 sampler keyboards.
