To every bro who dismissed my concerns about the streaming economy with the phrase “just tour”....on behalf of all artists, I would like to smack you in the face.
The streaming economy/technology has just replicated the inequity of the Major Label era by making the platform very rich indeed, and leaving the artists almost entirely broke. What will happen when the recession hits and advertising is failing, people cut subscriptions and piracy are on the rise again?
Live Streaming is NOT the solution, without clear monetization and licensing. It WON'T save indies artists, venues, roadies, crew...but, it is a good PR story for the live streaming platforms. And, as always, artists have to produce contents and give it away...
There would be no streaming businesses without the Artists first creating the Music.... Artists need money, not charity or tips jar.
As said Tom Gray "Kids pay £8 for a skin in Fortnite and we can’t ask for £12.50 for the entirety of all recorded music? Give me a break..."
