🇬🇧Premiered during the first performance of the musical Lady Be Good! in Philadelphia in 1924, The Man I Love, with lyrics by Ira Gershwin, was quickly withdrawn from the show. Yet this portrayal of the "Prince Charming" of the Roaring Twenties took on a life of its own: made famous by its first recording, it soon became a standard of the Great American Songbook. Frank Braley offers here a solo piano version.

🇫Créée lors de la première de la comédie musicale Lady Be Good! à Philadelphie en 1924, The Man I Love, sur des paroles d’Ira Gershwin, fut rapidement retiré du spectacle. 🇬🇧This folk song, telling the story of a duck wounded by a hunter, evokes a natural world inhabited by strangely human-like animals — much like those so vividly portrayed by Janáček in The Cunning Little Vixen. A highlight of this recording dedicated to the composer’s choral works, performed by Ca****la Amsterdam under the direction of Daniel Reuss.

🇫🇷Cette mélodie populaire, racontant l’histoire d’une cane blessée par un chasseur, évoque une nature peuplée d’animaux étrangement humains — à l’image de ceux que Janáček dépeint avec tant de justesse dans La Petite Renarde rusée. Achevé en 1682, l’antiphonaire des Invalides est un manuscrit précieux dont on trouvera plusieurs extraits reproduits dans le livret. Les Vêpres de Saint Louis, exécutées en alternance avec l’inestimable orgue du XVIIe siècle du Prytanée national militaire de La Flèche, reprennent vie par la grâce de Marcel Pérès et du légendaire ensemble Organum. Une réalisation fascinante au coeur de la plus haute tradition du plain‑chant !

The Antiphoner of Les Invalides, completed in 1682, includes a precious manuscript of which several pages are reproduced in our booklet: the Vespers of St Louis.
