🔴🇨🇳 China: Three men convicted for s*x crimes against minors were executed on November 13, 2024, after the Supreme People's Court approved their death sentences.
The three convicted, identified by their surnames Guo, Shang, and Gong, had been found guilty of particularly serious acts committed against several young girls.
Guo, a primary school teacher, was sentenced for repeated s*xual assaults against six students under 14 years old between 2013 and 2019. Shang targeted several young girls in public places between 2011 and 2020. Gong committed assaults on a girl from his village for several years, when she was under 12 years old at the beginning of the acts.
The Supreme People's Court states that Chinese courts apply a "zero tolerance" policy regarding s*x crimes against minors. It specifies that the death penalty can be pronounced in cases where the acts are deemed extremely serious, particularly when the assaults are repeated or result in particularly serious consequences.
In May 2025, three other men convicted of s*x crimes against minors were also executed after their sentences were approved by the Supreme People's Court. One of them had notably used online groups frequented by middle school students to approach and trap victims.
The Chinese Supreme Court also states that protecting minors, particularly from risks associated with social networks and online platforms, is a judicial priority.
