What a horrible decision by Marks and Spencer to close its St. Nicholas Street store in Aberdeen.
It is understood that they're keeping M&S Union Square Aberdeen open but Union Square Aberdeen isn't as easily accessible to people without transportation and it's one of the furthest shops from Union Street, Aberdeen which will be quite a trek for those with mobility issues or the elderly.
The store at St. Nicholas Street is an ideal position, it's centralised, it's on a FirstBus route for pretty much any number of bus in Aberdeen City Centre, and people don't have to walk for miles to reach the store.
Marks & Spencer should be focusing on maintaining M&S Aberdeen City Centre and ensuring its future for residents of The Granite City.
We will then have nothing left in town.
John Lewis & Partners, BHS, Debenhams.com all gone.
All we can hope for is Marks & Spencer doing the right thing and that would be to keep St. Nicholas Street open to ensure a better future for Aberdeen City Centre.
