We had our final summer : Brick Club with Emma group on Friday!

🏹 Our builders were aiming high and accepting build challenges!

🤖 build a robot
🌲 build a Christmas Tree
🛩 something that flies
🍨 build an ice cream
⏳️ 1 minute model

As always, they spoke about what they had created - encouraging and by their listening and attention to others

🥳 Well done!!

The next course of LEGO-based therapy with the Brick-by-Brick programme ( Play Included ) will be starting on Sunday 31st August.

If you are keen for the Lego fan in your life to be amongst like minded buddies and practice and develop their communication, social and emotional skills - please email [email protected] for details

: Brick Club with Emma were really pulling out all the stops!

🔠 The idea for the session was around building based on a letter from the alphabet! The opportunity to create seemed to be "my favourite letter is 'Z' so these zed things!" alongside others who wanted to build a car and added other 'c' ideas with their focus feature!

🗣 We also made sure we had our listening ears and kind hearts at the end of the session to hear about our buddy's build, ask questions about it and celebrate their successes!

Brick Club with Emma encourages children to feel confident and comfortable doing an activity they enjoy. As a certified LEGO therapist, these sessions are also opportunities to practise regulation, sharing space as well as items. As a small group, children can progress the skills needed to strengthen relationships through listening, paying attention and respecting others too.

If you would like to know more about how I can support your child using LEGO therapy, please get in touch via Whatsapp, Messenger or email.

Sport Aberdeen gave the children (and big kids) opportunities to try out archery, tossing the caber and other Highland Sports! Aberdeen Science Centre got all those grey cells working out and crafts, lunch and support from the wonderful Family Learning team made sure that everyone had a great time!

🌟 **Building Brighter Connections – One Brick at a Time** 🌟

Over the summer, I have had the privilege of volunteering with Family Learning Aberdeen, bringing to their outdoor community events. As an accredited Advanced Facilitator of the -by-Brick® programme (developed by Play Included), my aim was to share how structured LEGO play can support connection, , and resilience in children.

From the 30 Brick Challenge to “Build What You Love About the Park” and Tuesday's out of this world "Amazing Aliens", children were invited to create freely — with no pressure, just encouragement!

Through simple, joyful play, parents and I were able to see the children practise different skills. Parents saw how Brick Club with Emma can:
🧱 Encourage teamwork and problem-solving
🧱 Support emotional regulation in a playful way
🧱 Offer parents insights into their child’s communication and thinking
🧱 Showcase how Brick Club with Emma can go on to benefit whole families

What stood out most was how these sessions brought people together — children and caregivers — through meaningful, low-anxiety interaction. Parents told me how much they enjoyed watching their children immersed in creative tasks and working together.

LEGO-based therapy through Brick Club nurtures empathy, self-esteem, and supports building stronger relationships within our friendships, families and communities.

If you’re curious about the Brick-by-Brick approach to supporting children and young people in their lives leave me a comment!
