University of Aberdeen's filmmaking society You will have a chance to pitch ideas and get involved in all aspects of filmmaking with the rest of the society.

At the Filmmaking Society, anyone who is interested in film production can learn and share skills through workshops, exercises and projects that will take place over the course of the academic year. AUFS is a great opportunity for anyone who loves film, no matter what your experience level, and no equipment is needed!

We’ll have our first workshop today at MacRobert MR314, where our equipment manager Janaki will introduce you to the filming equipment available to all AUFS members, and help you familiarise yourself with them 🎥🎬

Pitching is also open to anyone who wishes to bring in any film/project idea for the year. No script is needed to pitch, but we’d encourage having a powerpoint if possible.

‼️Our secretary Liam will be on Elphinsone Lawn at 6:20pm to help you find the building if you are lost. Our first workshop is open to EVERYONE, no membership is needed to join us tonight. We’ll follow the workshop with a trip to the Bobbin, we’d love it if everyone could join, though don’t feel pressured to drink 🍻🥤

We hope everyone enjoyed our 2025/2026 Give-it-a-Go session, because we sure did! 💜🎬

Both groups did an amazing work, and hopefully this was a great opportunity to get familiar with the equipment, the filmmaking process and most importantly with each other :)

We’ll be posting both films on our YouTube channel as soon as we get them. Make sure you follow our channel to get notified the moment it’s uploaded! 🎥

If you love film, cameras and shouting ACTION every 5 seconds then this is the right place for you! 🎬
Come to meet likeminded film lovers and get the chance to learn and make your film next Thursday (18th) from 1pm to 4pm (Room still to be confirmed).

Whether you’re a veteran filmmaker or you’ve never had any experience, everyone is welcome to join, after all this is an opportunity to learn together.
Our committee members will make sure to assist everyone, and we’ll be providing all equipment necessary for filming! 🎥

We will also be present at the Fresher’s Fayre the day before, so you can come say hi and we’ll answer any questions you may have in mind before joining the society :)

join us on the beach on the 9th of may for our 25th anniversary birthday beach do, where we’ll be making s’mores, drinks, playing volleyball ball, doing board games, or maybe just making a big fire n putting sticks in it ☀️🏖️ anyways, we can’t wait to see you all there for one of our last hurrahs of this year 🫶

Don’t worry, if you’re here for filmmaking, not the socialising, then our regular meeting will still be running in MR268 at 5:30 the same day. If you’re feeling real cheeky why not do both?!
