In this clip from my upcoming episode, I share a story about a mentor of mine, a man I deeply respect. While building his house and business, money was tight, and he made a decision alongside with his wife: they both sat the kids down and told them plainly, “For now, we go with the cheaper protein. We hold off on chicken.” Not because he couldn’t have found a way, but because he wanted his children to learn something deeper, that sometimes you delay gratification for the sake of the bigger picture, and you do it together as a family.
That story stayed with me. So in this episode, I turned around and asked my guest, a businessman himself, if he’s ever had to make that same kind of call with his own children. Money set aside. A “not right now.” A hard conversation instead of an easy yes.
His answer? You’ll want to hear it for yourself.
Because here’s the truth: every parent faces this moment. The moment where you could take the easy way out, or you could use it as a lesson, for your kids, and honestly, for yourself too.
This episode is full of these real, unfiltered stories from people who’ve been there.
