Facing prison isn’t easy…
—-
Please stay with me for a minute.
It’s important.
If you’ve been following my journey, it probably looks as though I’m living a motorcyclists dream.
An ageing biker. A big motorcycle. Europe. Mountains, sunsets, fantastic roads and great adventures.
And yes… those moments are real.
But they are only part of my
story.
The truth is far darker.
For a long time I’ve hidden the reason I post and the real reason I ride.
Mostly It’s an escape from a crazy world I find myself in. And though I post about joy and people and rides and places, I carry wounds that most people never see.
I’m sure some of you might stop following when you hear more. It’s not easy stuff.
But maybe a few of you will stay, and listen. And that’s important to me.
Because sometimes the more important journey is something hidden deeper , and it comes out when someone finds the courage to tell the truth.
And that’s where I’m at right now.
I’m seventy-two years old.
My real story is about facing prison.
It’s about surviving years of abuse, manipulation and conflict. And losing a fight to be heard by “the system” at every corner.
It’s about discovering just how many men can be victims of domestic violence.
Victims of coercive control.
Victims of stalking.
The men who suffer quietly. Many men carry huge shame and hope it will all end with time, care and patience. I did. I was wrong.
Some find that when they finally ask for help, they don’t feel heard. Or even worse, when they speak up they are made out to be the abuser.
My AutumRider page began as a celebration of riding, but perhaps its real purpose has been something different all along.
To find my voice.
And, if I can, to help others find theirs too
My story is still being written. The outcome is still unknown. It could be healing, a relief. But it could also be tragic.
If you’re willing, stay with me. Walk this road with me. Share the conversations I’m about to have.
Because if even one person feels less alone after hearing them…
Then every post I’ve written to build a following has been worth creating.
Follow me. Come back. There will be more.
