Confession time… 🙈

I actually made myself this little skincare routine, printed it off and popped it in a frame in my bathroom. 🤣🌿

Not because I know all the steps off by heart… quite the opposite! My brain is like a sieve some days, so now I can just glance at it and know exactly what I’m doing and in what order.

The funny thing is… if you’d told me a year ago I’d have a skincare routine with serums, facial oils and different cleansers, I’d have laughed.

Before Tropic, I wasn’t consistent with skincare at all. I’d cleanse… sometimes. Moisturise… if I remembered. Then wonder why my skin wasn’t looking its best. 🤦🏼‍♀️

And this is the important bit…

I didn’t start with all of this.

Please don’t look at my routine and think you need every product all at once.

I started really simply…

💚 One cleanser
💚 One toner
💚 One moisturiser

That’s it.

Once my skin was happy and I’d got into the habit of actually sticking to a routine, I slowly added other products one at a time. A hydrating serum here, a facial oil there, and an extra cleanser in the evening that suited my 45-year-old skin a little better.

Taking it slowly meant I could see exactly what each product was doing for my skin, instead of chucking loads of new things at it and hoping for the best.

💚 One more thing because I know this catches people out…

If you’re just starting a proper skincare routine, don’t panic if your skin has a little wobble at first.

Some people can get a few little spots or a slight breakout while their skin adjusts, especially if it’s the first time you’ve been consistently cleansing or using active ingredients.

It doesn’t happen to everyone, and it doesn’t necessarily mean the products aren’t right for you.

That’s another reason I always say start simple and introduce one product at a time. It gives your skin chance to adjust, and if something doesn’t suit you, you’ll know exactly what it is.

Sometimes less really is more.

Start simple.
Stay consistent.
Then build your routine as your skin needs it.

Honestly, that’s made far more difference to my skin than buying loads of products ever did.
