**Global Entrepreneurship Week a big deal in Guernsey**

Over 400 people attended a series of 11 events organised by Startup Guernsey as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

The programme provided opportunities for attendees to network, attend talks with local and UK-based entrepreneurs, learn new business skills and engage in workshops on starting a business.

Executive director of Startup Guernsey, Jennifer Strachan, said: “The week successfully celebrated entrepreneurship in Guernsey with over 100 more attendances than last year.

“We hope we have inspired and encouraged all those interested in entrepreneurship to develop their business or to take the plunge to start a new one of their own."

**The Rotary Tree of Joy Christmas Light Switch On**

Long Port Group hosted the switch on of the lights for the Rotary Tree of Joy this year.

The event marks the commencement of the Rotary Club’s Tree of Joy campaign for 2015, which aims to provide presents to deserving children in the island.

Five year old Ethan Leale had the honour of pressing the button to switch on the lights.

Guernsey Employment Trust Launch

The Bailiff, Sir Richard Collas, cut the ribbon at The Guernsey Employment Trust's (GET) new premises at its grand opening. The charity supports disabled people to find and maintain paid employment.

**The launch of the new Gov.gg States website**

The States of Guernsey have just launched the first phase of the new gov.gg website today. They are inviting anyone to the Guille-Allès Public Library, from 12pm - 2pm today, who would like to test it out and give them some feedback. (Same time and place tomorrow and Friday)

‘We really want to get as much public feedback as we can to develop a website perfectly suited to our customers needs’ - Emma Matthews, digital marketing and corporate communications.

Helen Walton, policy and research manager, added ‘ over the coming months we are also including new features such as the option to request your tax coding notice form online, notifications that include events, news and consultations and much more!'
