Championing the local talent, locations and people of our Kent hometown, we develop, produce and distribute community-driven stories that have the power to make the world a better place.

Shot entirely in and during the unpredictable storms of Winter 2024, LOVEBIRDS is the first commissioned project from Squid Shack Studios in association with Madgio Films - and we're starting our film festival journey!

Commissioned by Screen South, Screen Ashford and Ashford Borough Council, Lovebirds was one of four short films selected to receive a £3,000 budget to celebrate Ashford.

We premiered at The Ashford Cinema in April 2025 and we're now proud to announce our first THREE film festival selections worldwide:

Say hello to our new look! ✨

We’re proud to introduce the new logo for Squid Shack Studios – a name that’s always been personal to us.

Squid = Syd
Shack = Dan

Two friends, two nicknames, one creative partnership that started many years ago as teenagers - and we haven’t stopped making films since.

This logo represents our journey from scrappy filmmakers to a growing Kent-based production company - telling real, community-driven stories with a connection to Kent that wouldn’t usually be told.

This logo is a reminder of where we came from, and where we’re heading. Welcome to the Squid Shack. 👊🏻

🚀 Exciting Update from Squid Shack Studios! 🚀

Over the past six months, Squid Shack Studios has been part of an intensive program with Create South East tailored for emerging businesses like ours, aimed at setting us up for the next phase of growth and investment.

It's been an exciting and eye-opening experience, filled with learning, collaboration, and monumental progress as a new creative business.

At Squid Shack Studios, our vision has always been about telling stories about and for local communities - especially in Kent and the South East - that may not usually be told by other companies.

During this transformative program, we've honed our business model, fine-tuned our strategies, and expanded our network far beyond what we imagined possible. The guidance, mentorship, and support from industry experts and fellow entrepreneurs have been invaluable, propelling us toward our goals with unwavering momentum.

As we prepare to embark on the next chapter of our journey, we're filled with gratitude for everyone who has been part of this incredible adventure. To our mentors, advisors, and partners – thank you for believing in our vision and guiding us with wisdom and generosity.
