IMO CHARTER OF EQUITY LGA SENSITIZATION TOUR: GROUP LAUDS OWERRI ZONE LEADERS OF THOUGHT ... Calls on Them to Push for Equity at Home
A sociopolitical group, Owerri Zone Integrity Forum, has thrown its weight behind the Owerri Zone Leaders of Thought planned sensitization tour of the nine local government areas in the zone, to mobilize and sensitize the electorate on the Imo Charter of Equity, describing the initiative as a right step in the right direction.
According to the group, which spoke through its coordinator, Mr Tony Onyedikachi, at the weekend in Owerri, the leaders of thought deserve commendation for coming up with the well thought out decision, considering that the Imo Charter of Equity is a groundbreaking vision document of Gov Hope Uzodimma, that's worth supporting.
The group posited that the document was deserving of the maximum backing of all well-meaning individuals and zones of the state, as it promises to usher in a new Imo in which order, unity, and peace will reign supreme, strengthening the foundation of sustainable development and progress of the state, as has already been laid by Gov Hope Uzodimma.
Mr. Onyedikachi heaped praises on Gov Uzodimma for his courage and statesman spirit in initiating the political roadmap, insisting that if driven to a successful conclusion, it will together with his numerous infrastructural legacies, immortalize his name in the political and governance history of the state.
The group stressed that by taking practical action in support of the governor's vision, the Owerri Zone Leaders of Thought, have shown that they not only support the roadmap, but fully prepared to work with the governor to ensure its realization, by mobilizing the people of the Zone behind the narrative changing initiative.
Owerri Zone Integrity Forum, called on the leaders to remember to include the advocacy for the domestication of the charter in Owerri Zone domestic politics in their speech during the tour, pointing out that only by so doing would they make all blocs in the zone to, not only buy their message, but also see them as leaders worth trusting and following.
The coordinator emphasized that just like at the state level, equity was also urgently needed in Owerri Zone, giving the obvious marginalization of some blocs within the zone, particularly Ngor Okpala bloc.
He noted that the area has never held any office that accrued to the zone on the basis of zoning, including in the Senate, since the zone came into existence, pointing out the great need to start correcting this glaring imbalance in 2027, just as Gov Uzodimma is trying to do for the zone at the state level.IMO CHARTER OF EQUITY LGA SENSITIZATION TOUR: GROUP LAUDS OWERRI ZONE LEADERS OF THOUGHT ...
