The Highs and Lows of Starting Your Own Business

Ah, the glamorous life of a business owner. Coffee-fuelled days, sleepless nights and existential crises over whether your logo is good enough (spoiler: it probably is). Running your business is no small feat. It’s worth it, but it’s also like assembling flat-pack furniture without instructions – exciting at first, confusing in the middle and occasionally leaving you questioning everything.

The Highs: When You’re Smashing It

Some days you’re on fire. Clients are rolling in, ideas are flowing and you’re CEO of Success Central. These moments remind you why you took the leap. You’re not just surviving – you’re absolutely smashing it!

It’s the wins that make it worthwhile. Maybe you land a dream client, hit a milestone, or finally remember the right password without spiralling into a reset frenzy. Celebrate every win, big or small, because they fuel your momentum.

The Lows: When It’s Quiet

And then… crickets. No enquiries, no emails, just a little voice whispering, “What if this is it? What if no one ever hires me again?”

As well as running my business, I’m also part of the community group Rossendale Together ! 🌳

Life’s been anything but boring lately. In the last few months we’ve been working hard as a group to bring the community together! 🫶

I’ve been an elf at a Christmas light switch-on, helped plan a pumpkin Halloween event THEN took a trip to an animal sanctuary to donate all the icky, gooey pumpkin innards—turns out, piggies love them! 🐷

Oh and let’s not forget dressing up as Mr Bean to entertain my grandma and her friends at the care home. I might have nailed the look, but I’m not sure I’ll ever live it down. 🫘

Wow, what a year this year has been! When I started SolvAssist I never imagined I’d be holding an award in my first year! 🎉

I started a business because I wanted my work to be something that I loved which is social media management and event planning and from there it’s grown and turned out to be more than I could have ever hoped for!

People don’t talk about how hard it is to start your own business, it’s been 5am starts, late nights, and working every day (even on holidays) and literally never fully switching off from ‘work mode’… but honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing!

I feel so lucky to have the most amazing family and friends who’ve supported me through it all. I’m beyond grateful and so excited for what’s next. 🥰

Here’s to chasing dreams and making them happen! Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey, you’re the best. 💜
