A few photos from last night's screening of Raging Bull (4k Restoration) + Q&A with Thelma Schoonmaker. I only managed to get a few photos as my phone was dying, and there was such a kerfuffle of getting professional photos done (understandable). I got to ask the last question at the Q&A after the film.
Thanks again to Foyle Film Festival, Nerve Centre, & Ulster University for making all this happen, and to Thelma Schoonmaker for attending.

As part of the Foyle Film Festival there will be a screening of Raging Bull with Thelma Schoonmaker, Martin Scorsese's long time editor, at 8pm tonight!

Thelma is a 3 time Oscar winner and 2 time BAFTA winner, as well as dozens and dozens of other industry awards. She's the 2nd most nominated editor in Oscar history and holds the record for the most wins.

Of all the shorts I watched at Foyle Film Festival today, "Our Males and Females" had the biggest impact. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to watch this 11 minute film from Jordan.

The film is deeply heartbreaking, and explores the complexity of grief, tradition, religion, and gender identity. You will feel a lump in your throat and you'll have tears welling in your eyes.

The film follows parents in Jordan (an Islamic country) preparing their adult child for burial. Their child has been returned to them from "overseas" after passing away (it's never mentioned how they died). The rollercoaster of emotions is beautifully illustrated. The language barrier should not be a physical barrier for you to see this film.

If you ever get the chance to see "Our Males and Females" take it. I highly recommend it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
