I finished up my twinkly ‘Striped Thundercloud Shawl’ by using my 2023 ‘Deck the Halls’ Inbetwixt Advent Calendar by 🌩️
I love modular knitting and this one was very satisfying. The colour palette is very varied and should provide a match to most outfits! I knitted the smaller version as I don’t think I had enough yarn for the larger one. 🤷‍♀️
~
The calendar had lots of lovely goodies and a daily 50g skein of 75% Superwash Merino wool, 20% Nylon, 5% Stellina Sparkle
Yarn weight: 50g Sock weight each

Super-squishy, super-floofy, single-colour brioche scarf I knitted without a pattern and forgot to tell you about! 🦙🧣
I probably should have made it slightly narrower to make it longer, but I just slapped on an I-cord and used one skein of each of these two yarns held double:
Suri Silk Haze in the shade ‘Spring Fawn’. (Laceweight 75% Baby Suri Alpaca, 25% Silk)
Shimmer 4ply in the shade ‘Pampas’. (50%SW Merino, 50% Silk)
~
I discovered how amazing single colour brioche is during the making of my ‘Marled Magic Shawl’ - it doesn’t have any purling rows! I also used a variegated Suri alpaca held with a plain yarn because I remember once learning that you get better result when the floof is variegated rather than the main skein. 💡

I adore this shawl designed by 🩷🩵🖤💜🤍💙
This is the ‘Jon Shawl’ named after Jon of
Obviously, I had to use a Birdstreet skein in this fi*****ng weight shawl; this time, my tried and true shade, ‘Figgy’. The contrast is a colour-shifting zauberball by in the shade 2469: ‘Jumping Shadows’.
This is really meditative pattern and it’s got a lovely ridged effect. It’s a really well-written pattern.

I really enjoy working with ‘Exquisite’ yarn because of the silk content and drape.
I acquired these in very wearable colours!
1 x Baroque (grey)
2 x Kensington (blue) - I only needed one skein!
4ply 80% Falkland wool, 20% Mulberry silk.
(The colours remind me of the ‘Disturbia’ skein envisioned by and dyed by as part of Martyn’s Knit365 KAL, back in 2023!)

The Hedgerow Shawl was a thoroughly enjoyable MKAL. Fun stitches and quick to knit which allowed time for other projects too.
The yarn has a lovely drape to it and I will be using another selection of them in a future shawl.

Inspired by the English hedgerow, the new MKAL by Helen Stewart of is right up my country lane!
Helen says: “A hedgerow is a little streak of wildness. Though they trace out the domesticated boundaries of fields and pastures, hedgerows are not tame. Thick with thorns, layers of growth, and tangled textures, they are a place of refuge for small creatures who depend on them for
shelter, food, and safe passage through the human landscape.
Hedgerows are highways of biodiversity, often supporting hundreds of species in a single stretch. They are also liminal spaces, wreathed in folklore, marking the line between known and unknown, safety and adventure, the everyday and the otherworld.
The Hedgerow Shawl Mystery Knitalong reflects this balance of the known and the
unknown. You begin knowing the overall shape and yarn requirements, while the finer details remain just out of sight. Designed to be knit in three contrasting colours or in a single, carefully chosen shade, this mystery shawl unfolds over four clues.”

I thoroughly enjoyed making this shawl. The final week saw me use lots of different yarn colours in the cable section which I quite like and haven’t seen from anyone else at all. The mohair mesh sections were expanded to seven colours for an even spread. It’s really light and fairly small with an ingenious construction. Chef’s kiss! 😘

I absolutely loved this week’s clue and rattled through it in two days. Luckily I had one beautiful speckled yarn with enough left to complete this section in one colour! If you’re wondering, it’s ’Strawberries ‘n’ Cream’ by which I picked up for my ‘Strawberry Stripe’ shawl by back in 2023 for the Strawberry Shortcake Make Along by Ali of

Slow going this week even though it was quite an uncomplicated and minimal clue.
On Thursday I went away for a few days and managed to get most of it done in between events. I had made a slight mistake with my colours and later decided to take the opportunity to frog back when I subsequently discovered a ‘stitch glitch’ which I couldn’t work out how to correct once I had laddered down! 🤷‍♀️
