🎬 Our Workshop Journey in South Molton 💛

As our Youth Creative Media (YCM Devon) workshop journey in South Molton comes to a close this week, we wanted to share some of the highlights with you!

Young people getting to know each other. Confidence growing session by session. Friendships forming around microphones, cameras and shared experiences ☕

You’ll also catch glimpses of the cohort taking their skills out into the Pannier Market, meeting traders and recording their stories.
And a peek at the Victorian roof restoration underway - the wider project our work sits within 🏛️

✨ Productions are now underway, and the exhibit goes up in the Pannier Market at the end of June.
📅 Save the date - Saturday 4th JulyCelebration Day at South Molton Pannier Market 🎉Theatre, vintage costume, the exhibit unveiled, and a celebration of the cultural pride and heritage of the South Molton community.

🏆 There will also be a special award ceremony for our young people, with certificates presented, alongside thanks to key contributors. This will happen once the exhibit is in place.💛

"THEN AND NOW" at South Molton Pannier Market. 🎙️

Last Saturday was Recording Day 1 - and what a day it was.
Community members came through the door with memories stretching back generations. Our young team set up the equipment themselves, ran the sound, led the interviews, and held the space beautifully.

Emily Abbott, Community Development Officer at South Molton Town Council, put it perfectly:
"A very very positive day. Wonderful connections made. Young people - vibrant, engaged, and genuinely interested. Warm and welcoming." 🩷

Our wonderful volunteer Michelle described it like this:
"It was such a welcoming environment with everyone chipping in and knowing they have a role. It really was fabulous to see the interviews taking place."

We also had the privilege of Shirley Bray giving the group a personal tour of the Assembly Rooms - sharing the building's own history before she sat down to record. A moment none of us will forget.

And our parents - quietly watching their young people grow in confidence. That means everything. 🧡

The stories are being collected. The heritage record is being made. Right here in South Molton.

So excited 😀 cannot wait!
After a massive turn out last week at our 'try out' session - our project YCM in South Molton officially starts tomorrow 🎉
This is me presenting our work University of York in a cinema full of professionals learning from our approach just a couple of months ago.
🎯I've never been in competition with anyone, I just go my own steady pace, do what feels right and listen to my own heart like a beating drum 🥁Something we teach all our students and look at the results! 🌟🌟🌟
It has served me well! Now I get to have joy in my work and bring that joy to others...!
Our work is more than just media!!!✨✨✨

Holding Space is what we do 🌟

For creativity to really blossom we require nurturing, safe spaces!
We are just that!

We don't just make media
- we give platform for community expression
- we support our communities to economically thrive

With our Participant ➡️ volunteer ➡️ Employment pathway we don't just help connections in the community - we help to find paths..

Paths to wellbeing - paths to purpose - paths to personal empowerment - it is woven into a methodology that has been created from a decade and a half of study & research - it's woven from personal, direct experiences and from great care. That is how we work!

We are furthering skills and knowledge - knowledge of the delicacies and intricacies of our precious community cultures - and then supporting our young people to help to preserve them!

What we are creating has been nothing short of a miracle for us
- we just turn up and you guide us
- communities know what they want and need already 🙂
- we just provide the space and trust them....

If you have young people in your community or families that don't feel like they belong, send them to us!! If you are a young person, come and meet us. See for yourself - you will know if this is an authentic space or not the minute you walk in the room! We hear you! 🤥

We are here for you and can help you find what you excel in - even if it is not media - - - doing our courses will help you find 'it' whatever that is 👀 you will build inner resilience and inner confidence.

Remember our Creative Media Social in Barnstaple on 10th January? 93% of young people turned up and the energy was INCREDIBLE! 🔥

Well... some of those young people (ages 14-15) were so enthusiastic they want to join our full 11-week South Molton Heritage programme!

So we've extended from ages 16-25 to **ages 14-25** to welcome them! 💜
