I think it might finally be my time 🙏

I am the epitome of don’t quit. I can’t stress this enough, I’ve had years I didn’t earn minimum wage feeling like I wasn’t a man.

I’ve had years I made silly money and bought my kids every single thing they asked for.

The past 3 years have been pretty stagnant in terms of clear direction and progress, but full of lessons and building strong foundations

Now I’ve got an investor for an app that 6 weeks ago was just an idea and these guys are serious investors

And being invited on stage as part of a panel by people in prestige circles (at least compared to what I’m used to)

You know what they say, sometimes it takes 10 years to become an overnight success.

My advice based on what I’ve learned over the decade of trying and failing:

1. You need to care about actually helping people. Not just making money, or it will not work

2. Make sure you love what you do, or it won’t work

3. The most obvious, do not give up, or it doesn’t have a chance

Yesterday I moved the last of my things out of my office.

It should have felt sad. It didn’t.

I got the office expecting positive ROI, get out of the house, a dedicated workspace, somewhere to grow a “real” business.

It did the opposite. I was clocking in at 9 and grinding until end of day, feeling pressure to work just because I was there. It started to feel like any other job.

But we start our own businesses to feel free

There’s a saying: “Stay small enough long enough, and you’ll be big enough soon enough.”

Don’t be a sucker for hustle culture. The whole point is to be happy so keep it fun, avoid the stress, commitments and overheads until they’re absolutely necessary.
