You may have noticed that recently I've been making more short form video content here on Instagram (and also TikTok and YouTube).

🎉 I'm delighted to say that this is because I've been given a grant to work with Climate Action Against Disinformation (CAAD) to produce more reels highlighting and pushing back against misinformation in the climate space! 🎉 Together with a new full-time producer I'll be amplifying and contextualising new research and news stories from CAAD and beyond.

This is a hugely exciting opportunity to reach wide audiences who may not even be aware they are being fed misinformation in their news feeds. Especially in today's hostile information environment surrounding climate change, making sure scientists' voices are heard has never been more important.

🤞Fingers crossed this will herald a new era of educational content on my channels!

🏊 Last week I swam a half marathon for and at (Strava stats in the last slide)

This was the biggest physical challenge of my life and took over a year to prepare for. Was in a lot of pain by the end and it took me about a week to recover. The full story will be told in a YouTube video, out very soon.

🎗️ Most importantly I'm delighted to say that with gift aid we have raised over £35,000 for these incredible charities... so far. The fundraiser page - linked in bio - will be open for a while and I'll be adding the AdSense revenue from the two videos to the final total. If you would like to contribute to two causes very close to my heart, please do donate.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me along the way, including everyone who has already donated, but especially to pixel wife for being endlessly supportive and doing an awful lot more than her fair share of parenting this year. I promise I'll make it up to you.

And lastly, dad: I did it.

Well that was an experience I'll not soon forget.

If you didn't catch waxing my chest and legs for charity on my livestream you really missed out. Fortunately I warned the other people working in my building.

🎗️ Two years ago lost my dad to cancer.

My dad was a huge supporter of our local cancer hospice through running the Bath half marathon most years. As it turned out, Dorothy House ended up taking care of dad in the last weeks of his life and allowed him to spend some time out of hospital and back at home with my mum.

As well as running, dad loved swimming, and took me to Bath leisure centre every weekend when I was a kid.

So to continue his legacy but put my own spin on it, I'm not going to run a half marathon for Dorothy House....

🏊 ... I'm going to swim one.

On August 7th I'm going to swim 844 lengths of Bath leisure centre pool, and it's going to be the biggest physical challenge of my life.

To make it worth it, please donate to the fundraiser link in my bio. All donations are gratefully received and will be split between Dorothy House and .

My gateway drug for miniature painting was a magazine called Battle Games in Middle Earth, which I started getting in 2003.

Each issue came with a model or a sprue, and one of the first models (in issue #6!) was of Aragorn, specifically at Helm’s Deep, which my 13 year old self painted up to the best of his abilities.

This week I'm playing a Helm’s Deep scenario with a friend, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to give Aragorn a facelift. One dunk in acetone and a few hours of painting later, and it’s very gratifying to see how my skills have progressed (even on a relatively quick paintjob)!

If you’re not already, consider following it’s where I post my model pictures - and I have a big project to show off in a few weeks’ time…

About last night... 🍿

I went to my first movie premiere! And it was for a movie I was in!

I was absolutely privileged to be part of the Time For Ch4nge immersive art installation in Brussels. This short film - displayed in a wrap around format - showcases the amazing progress made in methane observations and how we can use this data to bring rapid climate action, holding fossil fuel companies to account with strong legislation.

My main contribution to the film was being the narrator... and it was more than a bit strange hearing my voice booming out from screens completely surrounding the space. With voiceover recorded in my studio, as made possible by my patrons!

If you missed the installation, it will hopefully be going on tour (and I will post updates if/when this happens) as well as being available in a far less immersive two dimensions online soon. Naturally I'll also be making a video about the experience for my YouTube channel too.

Side note/final slide: it was also great meeting .ats at the premiere and having a long chat about climate justice and activism! Maybe some collaborations to come... 👀

Climate lads on tour! Climate lads on tour!

Was honoured to be invited back to to have breakfast with and a dozen climate creators (including ya boy Dave Borlace from Just Have A Think) this morning.

We discussed how the department for energy security and net zero can more effectively engage the public on climate issues, and how we can build a two way conversation with experts and the public.

Met some truly inspiring people and definitely came away with several ideas for future projects. Fingers crossed this is the first step on a journey we will take together.

Having a great time at the European Space Operations Centre, learning about and in particular the Biomass mission. That's launching today, and I'll be watching the control room! Fingers crossed everything goes well (apparently the parlance is "may you have a boring launch") because Biomass will add critical information to our understanding of the carbon cycle. Someone should probably make a video about that...
