UK SME AI adoption hit 54% this year, up from 35% in 2025.

The question now isn’t “should we”, it’s “where do we start and how do we avoid being left behind?”

Find where AI fits in your business, decide what to build first, build it.

Anthropic launched Claude for Small Business this week. The product looks great. But the product isn’t the main part.

Before you switch it on, five things to do this week. None of them require a consultant.

One. Write down what good looks like for the workflow you want to automate. If you can’t describe the outcome, you can’t tell if it did it right.

Two. Map who signs off on what. The AI will ask for human approval. Decide now which person, for which decision.

Three. List the data it shouldn’t see. Client lists, GDPR covered records, NDAs, sector specific confidential information. Most UK SMEs will have at least one category. Document it before you connect anything.

Four. Pick one workflow. Not five. The temptation is to switch everything on at once. Don’t. The biggest learnings come from one workflow running well, not five workflows running roughly.

Five. Set a date to review what happened. Two weeks in, 30 minutes, three questions. What did it do well? What did it get wrong? What had to be redone by hand? Without that review, you’ll either over-trust it or quietly stop using it.

The tool is the easy part. The thinking before it is where the real benefits are.

Save this for when you’re ready to switch it on.

Anthropic launched Claude for Small Business this week. For a UK business? Three problems.

The headlines make it sound like part of the AI consulting market just got blown away. In the US, it kind of has. The toggle handles payroll, the monthly close, invoice chasing, and a load of other back office jobs without setting up a single integration.

In the UK, it’s not quite the same picture.

Remember these?

The golden era of memes is behind us, but ChatGPT has brought it back, with some quite unsettling accuracy.

I gave it one prompt: recreate this image in the style of a high-budget Unreal Engine 5 cinematic render. Preserve composition, framing, expression, pose - change nothing but the visual style (full prompt was a tad longer).

The results are something else.

Which one messed with your head the most? Drop it in the comments.

Most people that say AI is bad are typing one sentence into Claude and expecting a miracle.

The output is only ever as good as the brief. Vague prompt, vague answer. Detailed brief, something you could use.

Here’s some examples of bad to great prompts for different scenarios. The same logic applies to whatever you’re throwing and AI: image gen, research, code. Treat it like a freelancer you’re paying for the result. Write a proper brief, get a good output.

Comment SKILL and I’ll DM you a my Claude carousel skill - a file that turns prompts like these into branded Instagram content.

Marketing used to be the job. Now it’s changed.

A short one for anyone running a solo marketing department, or an agency with a small team.

Get this look. For free.

No studio lighting. No flash. No fill. A bare bones equipment setup, and a preset I built specifically for the kind of light you get at events - low, mixed, fluorescents competing with natural light.

Most paid presets flatten everything to grey mud. This one crushes the shadows, pulls teal into the cool tones and holds skin warm enough to still look human.

Comment BRAVE and I’ll DM it over.

Ten font pairings I wish I’d used sooner.

All free on Google Fonts. All work in 2026. All used by brands that look like they spent thousands on type.

I spent years stacking the same few fonts on every project before working out which pairings actually do different jobs.

The shortlist is in the carousel, ranked.

No.1 is the one I still default to. No.2 is the one I’d switch to if I started again today.

Save this for your next brand build, design refresh, or pitch deck.

Ranking number 1 isn’t what it used to be.

AI Overviews now show up on 13% of Google queries. A year ago, that was under 5%. The top organic result loses up to 34% of its clicks when one appears.

60% of searches end without a click. In Google’s AI Mode, it’s 93%.

But total search demand is up 26% globally when you add ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude into the mix. AI referrals are up 975% year on year. The traffic isn’t gone. It’s spread across more places.

The shift nobody’s talking about: ranking and citation used to overlap 75% of the time. Now it’s 17-38%. Being on page one is no longer the same as being the page that gets quoted.

Three moves to make this week are in the carousel.

I send a fortnightly newsletter that breaks down stuff like this. Sign up at domsbrands.com.
