Who are your social media posts actually for?

According to Bethany (who has a full time marketing job! So genuinely a credible source of knowledge!) from , one of the biggest mistakes face painters make is creating content for other face painters instead of the people who might actually book them.

In this clip, Beth explains why she believes your social media, website and marketing should be speaking directly to potential customers, not your competition.

It’s a simple shift in mindset, but it could completely change how you approach your business.

“Focus on your own business.”

It sounds simple, but Bethany from believes it’s one of the most important lessons a face painter can learn.

In this clip, Beth shares her thoughts on comparison, industry drama, and why spending your energy worrying about what other face painters are doing rarely helps your own business grow.

Instead? Put that energy into your customers, your skills and your goals.

A great reminder for all of us.

You know you’re at a good event when the queue is so long people are willing to wait… but TWO HOURS?! 🤣

In next week’s episode of Sponge Stories, Jane from Daisy Jane’s Face Painting shares the story of one event where the queue just kept growing and growing.

It’s a lovely reminder of just how much joy face painting brings to children. While we’re busy worrying about line work, split cakes and whether our tiger stripes are straight, the kids are happily prepared to queue for hours just to sit in the chair.

🎙️ Jane’s episode drops next Tuesday on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube.

When you first start face painting, it’s easy to look at everyone else’s work and wonder why you haven’t found your “thing” yet.

In next week’s episode of Sponge Stories, Jane from shares some brilliant advice for newer painters about finding your flow, developing your own style and giving yourself the grace and time to grow.

Because the painters you admire didn’t wake up one morning with a signature style. It came from practice, experimentation, mistakes and showing up again and again.

A really lovely reminder that your journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.

How can we make face painting more accessible and inclusive for children and adults with additional needs?

In this clip from the upcoming episode of Sponge Stories, Rachel Connolly from .fun.faces in West Ireland shares some simple but powerful tips, drawing on her own experiences as the sister of someone with Down’s Syndrome and mum to an autistic son.

Sometimes the smallest adjustments can make the biggest difference. Whether it’s how we communicate, manage queues, approach sensory needs, or simply give people more time, Rachel offers practical advice that every face painter can take away and use.

This was such an important conversation and one I think every painter will learn something from.

I AM SHOOK 😱😳 - I genuinely cannot believe I’ve been face painting this long and never once thought to mix colours together until Rachel from .fun.faces casually mentioned it on the podcast 🤯

Apparently the rest of the industry already knew this information and I’ve just been living under a rock with my split cakes 😳🤦‍♀️

In next week’s episode, Rachel and I chat about all sorts including painting in rural areas, working with neurodivergent children and adults, and little industry tips that completely blow your mind years into painting 🎨

Episode out next Tuesday on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube ✨
