Just a few thoughts from my experience at the Great Run in Newcastle

I would love to know your thoughts on social media and how it has inspired a lot of people (like me) to try running but can also make it look like everyone is doing so much better than you are.

A special thanks to all the people who helped me get to this point today.

Running doesn’t come naturally to me but boy did I love the Great North Run today. Such a gorgeous atmosphere and I just soaked it all up!

A huge mental turn around, compared to a few weeks ago when I was hugely doubting my capability, but I did it! Wooo

I’ve arrived in Newcastle in anticipation of the Great North run and decided to just casually add some content here to remember this weekend by and keep some special people in the loop like I promised them I would 🫶🏻

Time goes by so quickly. Imagine starting uni without a laptop, without WiFi in your entire block of flats, without a smartphone.

I didn’t even study social media at uni, on account of it not actually existing as a concept or a course.

Mad to think back then MSN Messenger was the way we communicated and one day we logged in to it for the last time ever.

What else from those days makes you feel like we were living right in the olden times?

All the best music starts with an excel spreadsheet right? 🤣

In 2024 my pals and I started this challenge where each week we would do two things:

Listen to a Taylor Swift album (chronologically) and go on a walk where we would sync up three phones to play the album at the same time and we would walk and talk with one headphone in. This got us ready for the Era’s tour that our friend .mcmahon.22 got us tickets for!

The second challenge was to listen to brand new music from various artists supplied to us by .5 - the person who supports live music and the arts the most out of all my friends.

She took it really seriously and we had to fill in our reviews into an excel spreadsheet each week, documenting what we thought of the album, standout tracks, overall score etc.

That’s where I was introduced to and her beautiful 2nd album and I haven’t looked back since!

Now we’ve seen her twice this year and I am a firm fan!

It’s always fun to do something new, listen to new artists, experience new things and enjoy the experience
