Uber Rock

Uber Rock Fighting the forces of musical mediocrity from the dirty heart of Belfast city \m/ Join or die.

With the spirit of '77 coursing through its veins, UBER ROCK is like no other music website on this, or any other, planet. Determined to tell it like it really is, the black heart that pumps poisoned blood through the knowledge-ridden frames of the hard rockin' hit squad of Uber Rock writers beats secure in the knowledge that it will never pander to fashion, never suck PR c**k for guest passes, ne

ver bow down to those that deserve fu***ng up. Fierce with independent spirit and determined to do whatever the f**k it likes, UBER ROCK is dedicated to covering every corner of this rock 'n' roll world, uncovering great bands that just have to be heard, bands that you would never know about if you were happy to get your rock news from those glorified versions of Smash Hits currently polluting the nation, the scourge of true music fans. Determined to give as much coverage to raw, unsigned talent as it is to the world's biggest bands, UBER ROCK might not be pretty, but it is pretty damn special. Send review material to:

It's always a bad day when a band announces they they are calling it quits, and especially when it is a band whose career you have followed for many years, and whose members you have come to regard as friends, both personally and professionally. Thanks to Baleful Creed for the music, the memories and the camaraderie. We wish Fin all the best: we know only too personally the effects of COPD, as DQ also suffers from it. Hopefully we'll catch up with yez for a pint or three somewhere down the highway \m/

The post that you never want to write.

As you may be aware we went into hiatus for one medical battle, rolled into another hiatus for another battle and now a further one looms that we have all agreed we just need to pull the shutter down and switch off the office lights for the final time.

First some good news – Fin’s wife has kicked cancers arse and has the all clear. John’s Mum is doing okay and spirits are good.

However over the course of the hiatuses, Fin has found himself struggling more for breath and energy when doing even some simple tasks. Diagnosed with COPD a few months ago but doing alright with ongoing treatment, the big impact for him is just not having the power or energy to be able to play live.

We are a live band. It’s what makes us tick. We can practice for a gig, with more of us sitting down for the two hour rehearsal and taking breathers and it all seems grand. But a live performance is so much more demanding.

Add in the ongoing care duties and work commitments just on John’s part and he’s finding it hard to get the time to find for dusting off a guitar.

Dave and Davy are keeping busy in new projects and were waiting for us to get regrouping. The current developments have curtailed us getting back to doing what we love. The realisation that its time to say farewell has taken a few months to come to a conclusion. A final farewell gig was suggested but even that presents quite a pressurised demand and its not something we want as we went out on a high with playing some really enjoyable gigs on our last The Lowdown album support shows.

Saying farewell means a host of thanks need to be provided. This is a case of being afraid of missing out on someone in a thanks list – so hopefully we cover it all – and we are so damn grateful for the incredible support we have been blessed with.

To everyone in what was called our Baleful Creed Global Family – you have been amazing from day one. We’re only able to have made this journey thanks to your support. We never imagined we would get three albums deep and to get to play across the British Isles – those gigs memories will last us a lifetime. You were more than just fans of a band – you are friends and family – the group could not have been titled any better – thank you all!

To the bands we have shared stages with, shared out backline, supported each other and made the gigs a great night out for us – thank you all and keep rocking!

To the promoters that took us on board – give us a stage to play on and the sound/light men/ladies who made it a pleasure to play – thank you!

To the reviewers and gig photographers who capture those moments in time – good or bad – that’s how it rolls – thank you for your skills and promotion.

To the wizard Neal Calderwood – our recording guru who captured the debut album, Seismic Shifter and finally The Lowdown. Can’t thank you enough for making those albums sound amazing!

To our merch suppliers and artists – thank you for great designs and skills for making such fantastic merch that help keep the band rolling forward. To the Newtownards Post Office for shipping it all out so swiftly!

To our former members, you got us moving forward, brought the tunes to life and were invaluable in your part in all this. Thank you.

Now we hope this captures everyone but just in case – we are so thankful to have had you as a friend and supporter and making Baleful Creed something that we are so proud to have been a part off.

Take care out there – we will hopefully cross paths at other gigs in the future.

So one last favour – raise a glass, have a wee one for BC and crank up a tune or two for us. Made to be played LOUD!!

Thank you.
