I recently sat down with Nina to hear more about her story, the people behind Thaisiambelfast and why she wanted to bring proper, authentic Thai food to Belfast.
Of course, I had to try some of the food while I was there.
We started with the Sai Ua, a homemade Northern Thai sausage packed with pork, lemongrass and chilli. Fair warning, this was seriously spicy, but the amount of flavour and fragrant herbs running through it was unreal.
Next was the Khao Soi G*i, which might genuinely be one of my favourite noodle dishes in Belfast. You’ve got the rich, creamy curry broth, tender chicken, soft egg noodles underneath and crispy noodles on top for that extra crunch.
But the real standout for me was the pineapple fried rice. Served in a fresh pineapple shell and loaded with seafood, cashews, raisins and sweet pineapple, every bite was packed with flavour. The balance of sweet, savoury and that smoky wok flavour was so good. If you only order one thing, make it this.
We also tried the Pa Lee Suan, Chicken Pad Thai and finished with the Massaman Curry with prawns, which was rich, nutty and seriously comforting.
What I really enjoyed though was sitting down with Nina and hearing more about the story behind Thai Siam. You can tell how much passion goes into the food and how important it is to the team to bring a proper taste of Thailand to Belfast.
Definitely one to add to your list.
