I haven't had a decent MX5 Mk2 for sale for a while so I'm looking forward to this being ready towards the end of this week. Its a 1.8 in Twilight Blue, registered in 2000 and its in just lovely condition throughout. Its had recent repairs to sills and chassis rails, all carried out to a high standard by a well known MX5 specialist. A good Mk2 is always a good thing to drive: reliable and sensible enough to be used every day and special enough to enjoy at the weekend. This one has covered around 92000 miles, has a good history and price is £3650. More details and photos to follow.

This 1991 Mazda Eunos 1.6 is another that I currently have for sale and its a properly nice example. We imported this very car from Japan back in 2016 and sold it to a chap local to me who has owned it ever since – until now. On the face of it, its a fairly standard looking car but if you can find one that drives better than this one, I’d urge you to buy it. Which is a slightly round-about way of telling you this one is brilliant to drive.

Specification includes electric windows, unusual leather rimmed Momo steering wheel complete with air bag, electric aerial and stainless steel sill tread plates. It also has air conditioning and unlike most Eunos cars, this systems works perfectly and still blows ice cold if required.

Bodywork is very good indeed with good wheel arches and sills and its exceptionally good underneath. Its never been welded or repaired underneath and you can still see the original spot welds on the rear wheel arch lip, a good sign that its never been repaired. The previous owner was a big fan of Lanoguard and this has been used extensively around the car to help keep rust at bay.

But one of the biggest reasons for this one being so good to drive is because it has a set of Meister R adjustable coil-overs fitted. These are just under £1000 for new set and for good reason: they transform the car. Ride height has been set so its slightly lower without being silly and as a result, handling is terrific. It can take various humps and dips in the road at quite some speed without ever bottoming out or becoming unsettled. It really is quite some way better than a standard car to drive. Brakes have been replaced with larger 1.8 discs along with EBC pads and its fitted with braided brake hoses too.

Its covered around 153400km (around 96000 miles) and it sits on a set on recently refurbished 15” Mk2 alloys which are fitted with Uniroyal Rainsport tyres, all in good order. It has a black mohair soft top with glass window along with a stainless steel style bar and matching windblocker.

Inside, its in quite standard, clean condition. I have just valeted the seats (some minor wear on the driver’s seat bolster) while carpets and trim are all in clean and tidy condition. It still has the same weird and wonderful stereo system that it arrived from Japan with. Its obviously not the original one but looks very flash and actually works ok. If you’re fascinated with sparkly things, you’ll love this stereo…

I always prepare my MX5s carefully using my unique MX5-based 80+ point checklist. The point of this is to ensure that everything is inspected – from the state of coolant hoses to electrical items, hood catches, engine fault codes etc and any faults found, rectified. It means that there should be no unexpected immediate expense once you have bought the car and gives me peace of mind that the car I sell is of a good standard. As part of this process, the car has just been serviced with new oil, spark plugs and filters and the reusable K&N air filter cleaned. Electric windows have been cleaned and greased as have door locks, drain holes cleared, handbrake adjusted etc and a new battery fitted along with new wiper blades. Its recently had a new Maruha radiator fitted too. Its MOT tested until the end of September 2025.

As mentioned above, its terrific to drive. Performance is strong, the engine is free from leaks or odd noises and gearbox and brakes feel just right. On a good winding country road, its just exceptionally good by any standards.

There is a small collection of paperwork with lots of old MOT certificates and the car is showing as clear from any previous accidents or misdemeanours on the HPI database. There are two keys and it has its original jack and spare wheel. Its now ready to be used and enjoyed and price is £4495.

Now offered for sale is this 1992 Mazda Eunos 1.6 finished in Crystal White along with dark cloth seats and trim. Specification includes electric windows, power steering, a Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel and a stainless steel style bar. Its fitted with its original 14” ‘Daisy’ alloy wheels fitted with tyres that are all in good condition. Its covered 119600km (so around 75000 miles) and the last lady owner had the car for over 17 years.

Its clearly been well looked after over the years and bodywork is in very good condition indeed. I know that it has had a repair to the rear sill area some years ago and this was clearly carried out to a good standard as the repair is near invisible and the car is solid underneath. Outer bodywork is good too with solid, rust-free wheel arches, inner wheel arches, sills and wings. Paintwork is very good and the car simply looks just lovely. Its fitted with a black vinyl soft top with zip-out plastic window and this is all in good condition with no splits, tears or other damage.

Inside everything is in good order: seats are nice and clean and are free from damage as is the various trim pieces, door cards, dashboard etc. I’m about to fit a new set of black carpet mats (not shown on the photos) and I have also just fitted a new leather gear surround gaiter. It has a JVC stereo fitted and I have just replaced the old door speaker with new Sony items. It has a Stirling immobiliser fitted too.

Mechanically its all good too. The engine feels particularly strong and pulls really well in a gears. Oil pressure and temperature are as they should be and brakes and gearbox are just fine too. As with all of my sales cars, I always cover a good 200-300 miles so I know that the car drives as a good MX5 should – and this one is really very good. Blasting around the country lanes is just brilliant fun but I also know its more than happy sitting at motorway speeds for hours on end if needed (which I have also done in this car).

I always prepare my MX5s carefully using my unique MX5-based 80+ point checklist. The point of this is to ensure that everything is inspected – from the state of coolant hoses to electrical items, hood catches, engine fault codes etc and any faults found are then rectified. It means that there should be no unexpected immediate expense once you have bought the car and gives me peace of mind that the car I sell is of a good standard. As part of this process, the car has just been serviced with new oil, spark plugs and filters. Electric windows have been cleaned and greased as have door locks, drain holes cleared, handbrake adjusted etc, a new battery fitted along with new wiper blades. Its recently had new front brake discs and pads fitted. Finally it was MOT tested – this runs until October 2025.

There is a collection of paperwork including receipts for work carried out along with lots of old MOT certificates. There are two keys (with two immobiliser fobs) and it has its original jack and spare wheel. Its now ready to be used and enjoyed and price is £4850.

I'm based in Berwick on Tweed, near the Scottish Border and I can collect any prospective buyer from the local train station or I can arrange to have the car delivered by a trusted transport company at extra cost. I’m well known in the MX5 world and know these cars well. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions – if you are genuinely interested, you’ll have plenty and I’m happy to talk about MX5s all day. I'm also happy to give you an honest description and if there any faults or issues with the car, I much prefer to tell you up front, so you are clear about what you are buying.

This Mazda Eunos 1. 6 V-Special Mk1 is available now. Finished in Neo Green with tan leather seats, this was originally registered in Japan in April 1991 and is in really nice condition throughout. Specification includes electric windows, power steering, a stainless steel style bar, Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel with matching handbrake handle and gear k**b and stainless steel sill tread plates. Its fitted with a tan vinyl soft top and this is in good order too.
This one has had a fortune spent on it by previous owners. A couple of years ago, a huge amount of time and money was spent on the underside of the car with new shock absorbers, new springs and anti-roll bar links. The rear subframe was removed, cleaned and powder coated before being refitted with new camber bolts, subframe bushes and fittings. All suspension arms were refurbished. The underside is as clean as any you'll find out there.
Bodywork is very good indeed with no rust on wheel arches, sills or wings - or anywhere else. The passenger side rear sill area has had some repairs in the past and these have been done to a high standard. A car of this age (33 years old) will have had some structural repairs at some point in its life but a close inspection shows it to be sound and strong underneath with solid floors and lower sills.
Paintwork is generally good with the odd mark or very minor dent here and there in line with its age. Its a very good looking car and its sitting on a set of original 14" 'Daisy' style alloy wheels and these are fitted with a matching set of Vredestein tyres, all in good condition.
Inside, the leather seats show some minor wear but are otherwise in good condition with no splits. Carpets and trim are in good order: everything inside is nice and clean and the interior has a lovely retro feel to it. The stereo system works well and sounds good and it has an immobiliser fitted. It still has its original brown V-Special carpet mats fitted. The woodwork - steering wheel, gear k**b etc are all in nice condition. Mechanically its all good too: the engine is typical MX5 in that it feels sweet and strong and will rev seemingly forever and loves being wound up hard. It has been serviced within the last 1000 miles with new oil, spark plugs and filters. Electric windows have been cleaned and greased as have door locks, drain holes cleared, handbrake adjusted etc, The brakes are in good order with discs and pads having with plenty of life. Suspension is as it should be and a drive shows that the ride quality is good while still retaining its excellent handling.
Its MOT tested until April 2025. Within the last 5000 miles, its had the following replaced:
New stainless steel braided brake hoses.
Both gear shift rubber boots.
Front brake discs and pads.
Fuel filter.
New timing belt, water pump, cam sensor 'O' ring, crankshaft and camshaft seals.
New power steering and alternator belts.
New differential oil and gearbox oil.
Clutch slave cylinder.
As with any 30+ year old car, there are areas that could be improved upon: it has the odd minor dent, a couple of areas of paintwork that doesn't have as good a finish as it should. There are a couple of holes in the front bumper where the number plate was once fitted. Overall though, its a better-than-average example and performs and handles just as a good MX5 should. Its covered around 119,000 miles though it has covered just 13000 miles in the last 11 years. In any case, its a nice example and could easily be used every day. This really is the painless way into classic/ fun car ownership. I have a good collection of paperwork, an owners handbook, two keys and the original tool kit. A check on the HPI register shows it as being clear from previous accident damage. Price is £5350.

I have this superb Mazda MX5 2.0 Sport for sale and its covered less than 32000 miles from new with a full service history to back this up. First registered By Nidd Vale Mazda in Harrogate on 28th June 2006, its had just two lady owners since then.
Finished in Galaxy Grey with black leather seats, the specification of the 2.0 Sport model means its the one to have. This includes a six speed gearbox, Bilstein suspension, limited slip differential, Stability Control and Traction Control, heated leather seats, air conditioning, steering wheel controls for the Bose stereo, remote central locking, electric mirrors and front fog lights.
Its in just lovely condition throughout. Inside everything is in exceptionally clean condition and everything works as it should. Carpets and seats and all trim are in good order as are door cards and its fitted with the correct MX5 carpet mats. The soft top is black mohair and is is in very good condition and works perfectly. Bodywork is very good indeed with no scratches or dents and paintwork is exceptionally good. The alloy wheels have just been refurbished and its fitted with a set of matching Goodyear tyres. Underneath its good and solid too and has never had any welding carried out on its underside. Its recently been treated with Dinitrol and waxoil which will help keep any corrosion away. Suspension components and subframes etc are all in good order.
Mechanically its in very good condition indeed with a super-strong engine which gives terrific performance. Clutch, gearbox and brakes all feel just as they should. What I really like though is the fact that it feels so tight and is completely free from any rattles, squeaks or other untoward noises. Handling is just perfect too with lovely ride quality.
I have specialised in Mazda MX5 sales for 20+ years and as with all of my sale cars, it has been thoroughly inspected using my unique MX5-based 80+ point checklist and any faults found, rectified. It was serviced just 500 miles ago and its MOT tested until July 2025. I have covered a good 250 miles in this so I know that it drives as a good MX5 should - and this one drives better than most.
There is a large collection of paperwork and old MOT certificates going back many years. Its been serviced twelve times over its 32000 miles, mainly by Mazda main dealers so thats roughly a service every 2600 miles. A check on the HPI register shows it to be clear from accidents or any other misdemeanours. I have the original owner's handbook for the car along with service records and there are two keys with the car. It even has its original tyre compressor in the boot (these often disappear).
I reckon this is one of the nicest I have ever driven and its not to be confused with some of the tired examples of a similar age that are often seen - it really is in a different league. Its ready to go and be enjoyed by its new owner and I’d highly recommend a test drive. Price is £5250.
