Join us this Sunday as we celebrate our patron Saint Michael, of which both Coventry’s second and third (today’s) Cathedrals have been dedicated to.

St Michael has inspired many writers and artists, including Sir Jacob Epstein, who was commissioned by Sir Basil Spence to create the great bronze figure of St Michael conquering the devil, which now towers above the steps from University Square.

Here are the services for the day:
🔹 10:30am – 11:45am: Patronal Eucharist
Join us for a special Eucharist service to celebrate the Patronal Festival of St Michael and All Angels. We will also be joined by the Philharmonic Children’s Choir of Dresden.

🔹 4:00pm – 4:45pm: Joint Recital with the Philharmonic Children’s Choir of Dresden
In place of our usual Evensong service, the Cathedral choir will be singing a joint recital with the Philharmonic Children’s Choir of Dresden. Rachel Mahon, our Director of Music, and Gunter Berger will be conducting this 45-minute recital of choral works. Please join us for a splendid day of music.

Part II of our Ukrainian Solidarity Festival.

On Saturday, we visited the Ukrainian Community Centre in Coventry where the attendees embroidered the tablecloth from our festival. We hope this tablecloth will go to the Association of Ukrainian Women in Great Britain as an act of solidarity 💙💛

It was lovely to see Sherrie Edgar Art also showcase her film on Ukrainian embroidery as part of her International Changemakers project funded by Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 and British Council.

Meet Urban Monk 🇬🇧 🇯🇲

Urban Monk is our fantastic Producer on the Kingston Link. We had the privilege of working with him after being introduced by a mutual friend. During this time, we discovered so much about the fantastic work Urban does with musicians and young people in Birmingham, and we can't wait to work with him again on future projects 🙏

🇯🇲 To celebrate 60 years of Jamaican independence, we are excited to be releasing the Kingston Link on our YouTube channel on Sunday 7th August at 6pm.

🎶 Coventry and Kingston have been twinned since 1962. In order to commemorate this, we have worked with 4 fantastic artists on the tune, with 2 of the musicians (Feisty and Francis) hailing from Coventry, and 2 of the musicians (WILFULSKILFUL and TK) based in Kingston.

🙏 Big thank you to Urban Monk for producing the track and Refresh Ur Mindz for supporting with the Kingston side. Also, thank you to Coventry UK City of Culture 2021 and British Council for funding the Kingston Link as part of their International Changemakers Bursary.
