ARKHAAIK - Uihtis
CD / LP / Digital out July 25th (August 1st in the US)
EU: https://store.eisenton.de/arkhaaik-a-2872
US: https://store.eisenton.com/arkhaaik-a-2818

Eisenwald is pleased to announce the release of Arkhaaik’s sophomore full-length release, UIHTIS (English: "the hunt"). Arkhaaik is one of the most fascinating entities to have emerged from Jünger Tumilon (formerly known as Helvetic Underground Committee), the Zürich, Switzerland-based circle around Ungfell, Dakhma ZDM as well as many others.

Since the band's debut in 2019, they have recruited the drummer/percussionist Voidgaunt to their ranks, whose restrained yet simultaneously barbarically elegant approach lends itself perfectly to the band's meditative, yet catchy and incredibly heavy sound. All remaining duties were handled by the existing members Karapan Darvish and Menetekel. Now, after five years of seeming silence, spent honing their craft and perfecting their ambitious vision for the direction of the project, Arkhaaik has made a resounding return in the form of a gripping concept album, elegantly segmented into four tracks that lend new meaning to the word epic.

On UIHTIS (the hunt), Arkhaaik - nomen est omen- explore the theme of hunting in a Bronze Age context. The album opts for an unconventional and refreshing approach, allowing it to rise from the ranks of a concept album and ascend to a truly metaphysical, yet distinctly human experience. To achieve this, the act of "the hunt" is explored on two distinct levels: While half of the album is dedicated to the very real act of hunting an animal and the ceremonial slaughter of the sacred creature, the other half takes a different approach by exploring the theme on a transcendental level – here the sun „hunts“ the moon and vice versa.

Arkhaaik has managed to massively expand their sound and created songs that lend a gripping vibrancy to the archaic world of prehistoric times, with an emphasis on utter brute force that is completely foreign to the comforts of modernity. The band has retained a distinctly primitive edge, which sets them apart from more polished contemporaries, while still sounding utterly colossal. While UIHTIS (the hunt) is a highly atmospheric, almost cinematographic album, it showcases some absolutely scorching riffs and "balls to the wall" grooves that are sure to cause whiplash for any listener.

The band's lyrics were translated or, rather, reconstructed by an expert on Indo-European languages and linguistic reconstruction. This commitment to the concept and the resulting vocals lend the album an extremely strange yet authentic character.

The album was recorded in the Crypt. While the band took the opportunity to mix the music themselves, the mastering duties were handled by Priory Recording Studios.

Formed in 2016, Osi and the Jupiter have been steadily crafting a unique sound that blends Nordic folk traditions with the evocative storytelling of Americana. Rooted in acoustic instrumentation, their music features intricate melodies and soulful vocals that resonate deeply with listeners. The band has toured the US and Europe and contributed music to the Vikings series on Netflix, further cementing their connection to Norse mythology.

Larvatus marks a return to the band’s earlier, more mystical sound, evoking the haunting qualities of albums like Uthuling Hyl and Nordlige Runaskog. This album, which began taking shape during the uncertain years of 2020 and 2021, reflects the emotional turbulence of the pandemic. Despite the chaos surrounding its creation, Larvatus is a demonstration of resilience and its introspective and contemplative nature, offering a sense of refuge amid a world in flux.

Over the past two years, Larvatus has been carefully revisited, refined, and expanded. The album has taken on new layers of complexity, enriched with the addition of Kakophonix’s stunning cello work, which adds an ethereal depth to the intimate soundscapes. The final mix was arranged by Greg Chandler at Priory Recording Studios, bringing out the full emotional resonance of the music, ensuring sonically the band’s earthy, organic style is preserved while allowing every instrument and vocal to shine with clarity. The visual side, graced with the cover image by Totenkult Art, was equally matched for the overall theme of the album's songs.

At its core, Larvatus explores the passage of time, the fragility of existence, and the quiet power of nature. It invites listeners to reflect on their place in the world and find solace in the timeless tradition of folk music. The fusion of Nordic folk melodies and Americana storytelling creates a rich listening experience, staying true to the band’s signature blend of ancient sounds and modern sensibilities.

With Larvatus, Osi and the Jupiter offers a soundtrack for those seeking comfort in difficult times, reminding us that even in the darkest moments, music can provide solace, connection, and a sense of healing. It is a celebration of the enduring power of music to unite and inspire, inviting listeners on a deeply personal journey into the heart of both nature and self.

We are proud to announce THE CONVALESCENCE AGONIES, the third Weeping Sores release – an album about pain and memory. Link to lead single "Arctic Summer" + preorders in the comments. I, Voidhanger Records label announcement to follow - CD/Digital out May 30, 2025, vinyl edition out July 25, 2025.

---

Six years after the release of "False Confession," WEEPING SORES return with "The Convalescences Agonies," a stunning new death/doom work that – as the title suggests – springs from a state of profound suffering and prostration. "In late 2018, during the recording of the previous album, I severely injured my right shoulder," says singer/guitarist Doug Moore (Pyrrhon, Scarcity, Seputus). "The wound disabled my arm to the point of uselessness, and left me completely unable to play guitar for nearly a year. After months of physical therapy, I began to regain the ability to perform and I decided that a new WEEPING SORES album would offer fitting motivation for me to continue my rehabilitation."

The initial fragments of "The Convalescence Agonies" were written during those first painful reunions between Moore and his instrument, and those halting efforts marked the beginning of a 5-year struggle to complete the work, which ran through a global pandemic, broken interpersonal relationships, and the continual resistance of Moore's ruined shoulder, not fully healed to this day.

"I poured everything I could into this album, and became a completely different person over the course of its creation," Moore admits. "Still, I nearly failed to finish it. Only the aid of many dear friends and collaborators saw it through in the end." The work features not only the trusted drummer Steve Schwegler, the other half of WEEPING SORES, but also several guests who, with keyboards, cello, banjo and additional guitars, enrich the American band's imposing death/doom constructions, always tense and dramatic.

Wrapped in an elegant cover painting by Caroline Harrison, "The Convalescence Agonies" is a meditation on chronic pain and sacrifice: How they transform your body and mind, and how letting go of the past is sometimes your only hope for relief.

When I look back at the list of physical albums I released, this is probably the most overlooked of them all. Lucian the Wolfbearer is the ambient/funeral doom solo project of Sean Kratz (Osi And The Jupiter) and Old Roots was the last release from 2019.

In 2021 I asked Greg Chandler to remaster the album at Priory Recording Studios for a physical release on CD and LP. In the middle of a time of pressing plants chaos, it had to be reprinted, delayed and remains in the depths of the underground until today. It is one of my favorite releases since I started to be involved in the business in 2016 and as a fan, I cannot recommend it enough. Wishing for a comeback sometime!
