bhx Dead rabbit, the finest Irish coffee ever.
Brums first whisky and it tastes as good as it hoped it would.

Carl's top 5 dishes of the year. This year was maybe the hardest year to narrow down to 5 dishes. I could have easily picked a few from one or two of these places but felt it best to limit my dishes to one per restaurant. In no particular order they are.
Cate de boeuf. Probably the best steak I have ever had. bhx the tuna tostada. Fresh, spicy, creamy, crunchy and delicious.
dry red curry mackerel. Almost painfully spicy but equally as tasty. A dish that I think about regularly.bhx porcini and black truffle. This soup with the cheesy bun might be the most comforting thing I've ever had. Also my top five dishes could have all been from here.
Pork Jowl. This pop up at was crazy good and this pork was some of the best I have ever had.

Best Food In Birmingham

Next up in our mini-series where Brum’s best chefs, restaurant owners and creative minds put their reputations on the line, we’re breaking bread (and pouring drams) with Johnie and Tony from the people mad enough, and brilliant enough, to create Birmingham’s first whisky.

No fluff. No tourist traps.
Just the small, proper places they actually eat, drink, and disappear into when no one’s watching.

There are absolute gems on this list, the kind you’ll wish you’d known about sooner.

This is long overdue. I think every hospitality business should be signing up to this
