I’ve just been blessed with a new phone I desperately need 🙏📱
If you or someone you know is traveling from South Africa to West Africa soon and could help bring it over, I’d be truly grateful. 🌍💙

Day 104
After a sleepless night thanks to the neighbouring discotheque (and maybe a few too many meds), I still pushed through what felt like every road surface and weather the universe could throw my way. 🚴‍♂️💨

102 km later, covered in dust and exhaustion, I rolled into Mansoa — a town with very little, but tonight it means everything. 🌍✨

Day 103 🚴‍♂️
Took today to reset, recover, and give my bicycle a proper check. Everything’s in good shape and I’m ready to roll again! 🌍✨

Day 102 – 6,331km 🚴‍♂️

Today I crossed from Senegal into Guinea-Bissau. The border may just be an imaginary line on a map, but everything shifts instantly — culture, language, food, economy. Fascinating how the world changes so quickly.

The roads here are another adventure: rain-soaked, broken tarmac mixed with dirt tracks. Riding feels like a game of “choose the least-bad path.” Had a puncture to fix, then spent most of the day riding through heavy rain 🌧️. (The same rain that caused my recent accident — shared in the last post.)

The people are kind, though less forthcoming than Senegal — each country really has its own rhythm. That’s what makes this journey so raw and beautiful.

First accident on the journey 🌍🚴‍♂️
(⚠️ Don’t like blood? Best skip this one.)

Monsoon rains flooded the roads, I couldn’t see the tarmac, hit a pothole, and went straight over the handlebars.

The bike? Still rolling strong.
Me? A little less so…
• 8 stitches
• Roasties on face, chest, knees & hands
• 1 cracked tooth

All patched up now. Bruised, sore, but grateful 🙏 Tomorrow, I’m back on the road. This journey was never meant to be easy — it was meant to be real.

Fun few days in Ziguinchor 🌍☀️🌧️✂️ Got some sun, a bit of rain, and even a fresh haircut. If you’re ever passing through Ziguinchor, make sure to connect with Elhadji Ba — such a great guy! Highly recommend him for a haircut

Day 98 & 99
Back in Senegal 🌍 – surrounded by lush tropical vegetation where monkeys dart through the trees and towering giants stand watch over the jungle. The air is alive with sounds, scents, and energy that can’t be captured in words. 🌿🐒

Here, you can truly feel life everywhere – from four seasons in a single day to the endless cheerful greetings that lift me up as I ride past. 🚴🏾‍♂️✨

The last few days have been tough. A few triggering dates and unexpected changes hit me harder than I expected. On top of that, the intensity of writing my book brought a wave of emotions I couldn’t ignore.

It’s been overwhelming at times—and I’ve had to pedal through the weight of it all, unpacking my struggles along the way.

Just a reminder: it’s not always sunshine. Behind the scenes, there are difficult days, and I’m learning to sit with them and keep moving forward. 🌱

Stopped for a break in the small village of Bignona, Senegal 🌍. About 35km left to Ziguinchor, where I’ll spend the weekend before heading to the Guinea-Bissau consulate for my visa. This morning’s ride has been beautiful—lush green forests, water everywhere, and endless rice paddies 🌾🚴‍♂️.
