Sunsets in Freetown

31/05/2026

Sunsets. Special moments. 🌅

A few shared moments captured on walks around Freetown, Sierra Leone. Sometimes the best memories are found in the simplest experiences — a quiet walk, a beautiful sky, and time to appreciate the world around us.

Any cycling gear, parts and support goes a long way in Sierra Leone

Package received! 🚴‍♂️📦

A huge thank you to the cyclists in South Africa who donated these cycling parts, gear, and spares. Your generosity will bring many happy miles to young riders here and help keep their bikes on the road.

Every donated item makes a difference. It helps keep these young people cycling, active, focused, and off the streets while building confidence, friendships, and opportunities through sport.

If you have any unwanted cycling gear, parts, accessories, clothing, or spares anywhere in the world, please get in touch. What may be sitting unused in your garage could have a life-changing impact on a young cyclist in Sierra Leone.

Together, we can keep the wheels turning. ❤️🚴

Bitterly disappointed.

Back in South Africa I struggled to find proper service to get my gravel bike restored with the correct original parts. I tried 4 different bike stores and only the last one actually helped — or so I thought. I explained clearly that I was returning to West Africa and riding in harsh conditions.

They rebuilt both wheels, fitted new spokes, tyres and tubes. I arrived in Freetown excited to ride again… first ride, puncture. Third ride, the other wheel punctured too.

Turns out they fitted 700x28c tubes inside 700x38c tyres — completely unsuitable for the terrain and riding I’m doing on a gravel bike.

Now I’m stuck in Freetown with no suitable tubes available locally and unable to ride until someone can bring replacements from the UK.

Sometimes the smallest mistakes create the biggest setbacks. But as they say here in Sierra Leone… “Small Small” — we keep moving forward.

Keke’s offer some great and some not so great advice from time to time. I will try and capture some for you to see.

Mission accomplished 💪🇸🇱

2 weeks ago I set myself a goal — to run non-stop to the top of Kings Street with its brutal 15% incline. A small goal to some, but today I achieved it, and the sense of accomplishment feels incredible.

Sometimes it’s the small goals that matter most. They keep you focused, motivated, and moving forward one step at a time.

As they say in Sierra Leone — “Small Small” 🙌
