LP Ex-Guber Aspirant Imasuagbon Joins ADC in Edo, Decries Rising Hunger Among Nigerians
Former Labour Party governorship aspirant in the 2024 Edo State election, Kenneth Imasuagbon, has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing the unbearable hardship and hunger ravaging Nigerians as a major reason for his move.
Speaking to journalists shortly after receiving his ADC membership card, Imasuagbon said he was joining the party because it represents the only credible platform for genuine change in the country.
“No one is coming from outside to rescue Nigeria; it is Nigerians who must rescue themselves. I am joining ADC because I’m tired—not just of hunger, but of starvation,” he declared.
He expressed frustration at the alarming increase in food prices, lamenting that a bag of rice which previously cost ₦7,000 now sells for over ₦110,000, making it nearly impossible for him to continue his philanthropic support to widows.
“I can no longer afford to distribute rice to the widows like I used to. The system has failed, with those in charge unable to ensure good governance. The exchange rate is high, and the masses are suffering,” he added.
Imasuagbon said the ADC represents a true alternative that prioritizes reducing the cost of living, supports the common man, cares for widows and students, and stands for purposeful leadership.
“With ADC, I’m ready to lead the charge for change—providing employment for youths, quality education, security, and development. My move aligns with my long-standing principle of advocating for good governance.”
He urged Nigerians not to be afraid of political change and to rally behind ADC as the only viable vehicle to take the country to the promised land.
“People may wonder why I’m moving from one party to another. But I’m tired—tired of killings, insecurity, poverty, and the rising cost of living,” he said.
Welcoming him into the fold, ADC State Chairman, Kennedy Odion, described the ADC as a movement committed to rescuing Nigeria from poor leadership.
“We’re not building a one-party state. ADC is providing a platform for all Nigerians who desire good governance and real change. Before 2027, it will become clear that the ruling party’s time is up,” Odion declared.
He assured that the party will witness massive decamping ahead of the 2027 elections, as more Nigerians reject bad governance and seek a credible alternative.
