Jake Lang Drops Explosive New Single “Why Can’t We..” on Jeremy Sylvester’s Garage Paradise

UK Garage’s rising star Jake Lang steps up with his latest single “Why Can’t We..”, a heavyweight 4x4 roller landing on none other than Jeremy Sylvester’s Garage Paradise imprint. At just 19 years old, Lang is proving himself as one of the most exciting young names pushing the new wave of UKG.

Born in Manchester but now based in Croydon to immerse himself fully in the South London garage movement, Jake has been DJing for seven years and producing for six, honing a sound that’s unapologetically bumpy, bass-heavy, and 4x4 to the core. Drawing inspiration from UKG pioneers such as Tuff Jam, Harry Luda, Jeremy Sylvester, and Highrise, Lang’s productions pay homage to the roots while injecting fresh energy into the dancefloor.

“Why Can’t We..” is a no-nonsense club cut—skippy percussion, punchy basslines, and hypnotic vocal chops—that embodies the essence of the UK Garage underground. Perfectly at home in a late-night set or on pirate airwaves, the track captures Jake’s trademark style: rough, rolling, and impossible to stand still to.

Jake is no stranger to the scene, already racking up an impressive catalogue of releases. He’s dropped a vinyl-exclusive 4-track EP on Amigo Dubs, a 2-track dubplate on Dat Loud Recordings, and digital cuts on respected imprints including Movin On, In The Dub, and Under Attack Records. With support steadily building across the UKG community, his debut on Garage Paradise marks a major milestone and a clear signal of bigger things to come.

“Why Can’t We..” is out now on Garage Paradise. Expect to hear it tearing through raves and radio sets across the UK and beyond.

Bass-Funk-Tion Return After Three Decades With “Make Me Feel This Way”
Out October 24, 2025 on Garage Paradise

Legendary UK duo Bass-Funk-Tion are back with their first new release in over 30 years. Their brand new single, “Make Me Feel This Way,” drops October 24th, 2025 via Garage Paradise, the label owned by acclaimed producer Jeremy Sylvester.

Bass-Funk-Tion first made waves in the early to mid-’90s with a string of underground hits on Richie Malone’s Fat ’N’ Round label, including the classics “Push The Tempo,” “Fun-Da-Mental,” and “Catch The Beat.” Originally a trio made up of Jeremy Sylvester, Adrian Hibbert (SPUD), and Danny Technici, the project now returns as a powerful two-piece consisting of Sylvester and Hibbert.

“Make Me Feel This Way” channels the energy and innovation that made Bass-Funk-Tion a staple of the early UK rave scene. Fusing breakbeat-driven drums, rumbling basslines, and old-school Jungle and Rave elements, the track captures the spirit of the underground while injecting fresh life into the classic sound. Expect influences of early UK Garage, Dub, and Hardcore Breaks woven throughout — a nod to their roots and a celebration of UK dance music culture.

The track has been road-tested across clubs nationwide over the past year by Jeremy Sylvester and a select group of DJs, earning huge crowd reactions and anticipation from fans of both classic and contemporary bass music.

“It feels amazing to bring Bass-Funk-Tion back after all these years,” says Jeremy Sylvester. “This record really captures where we came from — that raw, break-heavy, bass-driven sound — but with the energy of now.”

“Make Me Feel This Way” marks Bass-Funk-Tion’s debut release on Garage Paradise, setting the stage for more music and live performances from the duo in 2025 and beyond.
